Google Readying To Pull Out of China

Sagelinka Re:What is the price of tea in China? (343 comments)

I don't mind that stuff is made in china, not all of it is bad. In fact only 1/8th of stuff is bad and it doesn't matter what country it came from. I'm all for the development of China but their government needs to go about things differently.

Google Readying To Pull Out of China

Sagelinka Re:Trade secrets (343 comments)

Thats very interesting. I didn't think about that. Could be but most of the data they could offer would just be minor intelligence. Nothing that could get them to hack the all mighty google. To think that people would defect and sell out Google. Now there's something you don't hear everyday.

Google Readying To Pull Out of China

Sagelinka Re:It should be interesting (343 comments)

It would be impossible to abandon a country when the internet is as vast as the oceans. Google will just have to try another approach. Or build an army and take china by force. They could use Androids. :D

Google Readying To Pull Out of China

Sagelinka Re:Enderle (343 comments)

Lol the whole point of bringing up Enderle is to show his opinionated statement about Google and China.

Google Readying To Pull Out of China

Sagelinka Re:Never should have been there (343 comments)

In some ways I agree but the attacks non the less are ruining any peace between Google and China. China could have went about it in a different manner.

MySpace To Sell User Data

Sagelinka Old Site (199 comments)

"playlists, mood updates, mobile updates, photos, vents, reviews, blog posts, names and zipcodes" Now who here thinks this is wrong in some kind of way?? There is no real reason behind it other then myspace making some extra lunch money. I might end up deleting my myspace after I do some research into this. But why I never use myspace anyway. To many kids. Facebook is mature.

How the Internet Didn't Fail As Predicted

Sagelinka Things Change at a Rapid Rate (259 comments)

I remember the "internet" around that time. Windows 3.1 and AOL were the big shots. 14.4kbps modems and computers that had only 386MHZ. Good times. But only a narrow minded person would believe that the internet, or computers for that matter, would fail. All technology updates at a very rapid rate. From Tapes to Compact Discs to Flash Media.

Energizer USB Battery Charger Software Infects PCs

Sagelinka Re:Near Anagram for Duracell (260 comments)

That's interesting, it might be a coincidence though. Ive never heard of "Battery Manufactures" having malicious software on there usb products or blaming it on others. But in this information age anything is possible if it has $$ next to it.

Programming Rick Roll

Sagelinka Sagelinka writes  |  more than 4 years ago

Sagelinka (1427313) writes "I work for a Development Company that specializes in PHP and PostgreSQL Databases. We have a "control panel" like interface for users to upload content to the Database in many different ways. I was working on a bug for the Image Upload of Thumbnails. They had to be .JPG only and had to have a specific dimensions. While I was shifting through a previously existing PHP "Image Upload" code I found something that made me laugh so hard my boss freaked out. Someone had put a Rick Roll in one of the associated files. It was commented out so it did not appear in the browser. Later I found out that the Programmer I work with added that about a year ago just to see if someone would find it and get a kick out of it. Thanks."

Digital Economy Bill has been Approved

Sagelinka Sagelinka writes  |  more than 4 years ago

Sagelinka (1427313) writes "The House of Lords approved the Digital Economy Bill and now its the MPs turn to decide. The bill includes proposals to ensure the UK will have a minimum of 2mbs Broadband with the "three-strikes rule" Basically the "three-strikes rule" is aimed at piracy. Assuming after letters and emails, offenders after the third offense will no longer be allowed to use the service. "Repeat offenders could face technical measures that will slow their internet connection, or even a temporary suspension from the net. Some believe that the bill will be rushed through Parliament before the next General Election, which could be held as early as May 6." The US has a similar plan. It will not give the internet to the poor or disabled."

Google to pull out of China soon, reports say

Sagelinka Sagelinka writes  |  more than 4 years ago

Sagelinka (1427313) writes "Both Google and the Chinese government appear to be leaking word that the search firm may soon shutter its operations there as negotiations between the two break down. Google first threatened to halt its operations in China after disclosing in January that an attack on its network from inside China was aimed at exposing the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists. At the time, Google also said it was reconsidering its willingness to censor search results of users in China as required by the government.

"I think Google thought China would be flexible," said Rob Enderle, an analyst with the Enderle Group.

Google has since been negotiating with the Chinese government to find a way to continue operating in the country. Google did not respond today to requests for comment on the state of the negotiations with China."
