Are the World's Religions Ready For ET?

Sam36 Re:Yawn... (490 comments)

When people 'attempt' to use that verse, it shows their own lack of understanding.

And for your info, right below that line says to not cast your pearls to pigs. And based on my *judgment* of you, I will do just that.

Are the World's Religions Ready For ET?

Sam36 Re:Yawn... (490 comments)

Then they aren't Christians. Most abduction stories, if research, will show you that all of these people were/are involved in the occult. Chuck Missler goes into that topic in a few studies http://tinyurl.com/nyhmszd

Also agreed. Seen plenty of startups go down because they want to use the latest when the latest doesn't solve anything.

New Toyota Helps You Yell At the Kids

I'd rather have more kids than risk my wife having adverse side effects to birth control (stroke, death, blindness, infertility)

World Health Organization Calls For Decriminalization of Drug Use

Sam36 Re:Finally! (474 comments)

I disagree. I find irony in America's constant pursuit and judgment of those that smoke cigarettes. Yet there is this huge push to 'make everything legal'. As far as health goes, smoking cigs is much better than injecting heroin or smoking meth.

I think the people that will suffer the worst are the poor. Intelligent, normal income people know what drug use leads to. The people in the poverty underworld (those which will never post to /.), will be hit hardest by easy to reach drugs. That leads to many things, more deaths, more high school drop outs, and less employable people.

Russia Prepares For Internet War Over Malaysian Jet

Sam36 Re:Black box data streaming (503 comments)

I am posting this from a wireless internet provider in my (rural) area.

And well, the service is pretty crappy.... I couldn't imagine trying to browse the net by connecting to a satelite.

U.S. Supreme Court Upholds Religious Objections To Contraception

Sam36 Re:Can an "atheist company" refuse too? (1330 comments)

No they are humans. When the commanders of Hitler's army were tried for killing 1000's of people, they claimed they broke no laws for the people they killed were not human.
Saddened to see us go right back to this mentality.

NSF Researcher Suspended For Mining Bitcoin

Sam36 Re:Throw the book... maybe literally at him. (220 comments)

Not sure what world you think you live in, but this is the same with goverment anything. I know plenty of people that don't work IT for any goverment contract, too boring. No body works, everyone stands around the water cooler and gossips all day. I am saddened that you think that goverment anything wouldn't waste money.

How the Internet Is Taking Away America's Religion

Sam36 Re:The Internet has strengthened my Christian fait (1037 comments)

Same here. It is very sad that people simply believe all the negative comments about Christianity without ever researching them. I enjoy the work Ray Comfort does and I am truly saddened when I see him street preach to someone that claims to be atheist or believe in evolution and when he asks them why they believe that, they usually can't answer. And if they do answer, it is usually not much of an answer (ie. it makes 'sense', there are contradictions in the bible, ect). People seem to put so little effort into their beleif these days, whether Christian or atheist.

Asterisk Still Safe

Sam36 Sam36 writes  |  more than 5 years ago

Sam36 writes "On Friday, the IC3 (FBI/NW3C/BJA) put out a security advisory on their website that contained a fairly vaguely worded warning about Asterisk systems being compromised and then being used as "vishing" (voice phishing) platforms.....

...It turns out that we were correct on our first guess: this is not a new problem, and furthermore is a difficult vulnerability to exploit even on those systems that are unpatched...

...Unfortunately, the news of security risks spreads faster than the news of a non-issue — secure systems aren't "stories" so I expect it will be an uphill effort to update all the sites which copied or re- blogged the IC3 story initially. We would very much like to enlist the community to have you try to post where you can the link to the Digium blog above ..."

Novell Reports Leap in Linux Revenues

Sam36 Sam36 writes  |  more than 5 years ago

Sam36 writes "Novell has released its financial earnings figures for the fourth quarter. While the company still shows a loss of 16 million USD (compared to 18 million during the same quarter last year), individual divisions of the company are doing quite well, with only two of them showing losses. Total revenue was 243 million USD. Interestingly enough, the company's Linux business is doing very, very well."
