First Person Dungeon Crawlers Making a Return

SillySnake I love these! (1 comments)

A lot of the original types of this game were before my time, but I spent hours and hours playing some of the "newer" versions like Mordor and Demise.

SillySnake Schools? (4 comments)

What types of schools are you seeing online degrees from? I'm starting to see some of the major state schools offer online degrees in engineering related fields. I think over the next 10 years or so it'll become more and more common. I've got to say I agree with you about the people with B.S. degrees. I wouldn't hire most of the people I went to school with.

Crack In Fukushima Structure May Be Leaking Radiation

SillySnake Re:"May be" "Possibly" "Calm down" "Sleep" (280 comments)

Not that I don't have some of the same concerns about editorial staff as the next person, but I think the article was changed after I submitted the link. I think the headline on the Slashdot article is a direct copy and paste of the Routers story when I submitted it.

How To Get a Game-Obsessed Teenager Into Coding?

SillySnake Addons or Mods (704 comments)

Try to get him pointed towards an addon or mod for whatever game he plays. If he writes something successful he'll start to spend more time maintaining that than playing. If he does it as a project with you or some of his peers it'll be more fun.

Japan nuclear struggle focuses on cracked reactor

SillySnake SillySnake writes  |  more than 3 years ago

SillySnake (727102) writes "Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said it had found a crack in the pit at its No.2 reactor in Fukushima, generating readings 1,000 millisieverts of radiation per hour in the air inside the pit.

"With radiation levels rising in the seawater near the plant, we have been trying to confirm the reason why, and in that context, this could be one source," said Hidehiko Nishiyama, deputy head of the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA), said on Saturday."

SillySnake (727102) writes "A draft report by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has called for a total ban on foreign shipments of terbium, dysprosium, yttrium, thulium, and lutetium. Other metals such as neodymium, europium, cerium, and lanthanum will be restricted to a combined export quota of 35,000 tonnes a year, far below global needs.
