Vatican Debates Possibility of Alien Life

SoulRider Re:Catholics are quite clever (721 comments)

Being catholic my whole life and knowing many priests, I have learned that not all priests understand everything that is going on in Catholicism and many of them apply their own interpretation to scripture and Catholic dogma. Never forget priests are people too and are just as capable of making mistakes as anyone else.

Apple Blurs the Server Line With Mac Mini Server

SoulRider This is a great product (557 comments)

Its a perfect server for a small office (say 5-10 people) or as a home server. Heck cluster a few and they would make a nice render farm for a smaller design studio or advertising firm. I doubt I would try to run a fortune 500 company off of a farm of these though. But my guess is Apple going for the low cost solution for consumers and small businesses with this anyway.

I know modern economics is sort like taking a road trip and having to drive over a cliff every 50 miles.

iPhone App Tracks Sex Offenders

SoulRider Re:Tired of scare tactics. (358 comments)

You are absolutely right we have to deal with the fear and the people who perpetrate fear before we can actually solve any of our social problems. This country has become nothing but a fear paralyzed invalid.

Company Awarded "The Patent For Podcasting"

SoulRider This is rediculous (202 comments)

There are so many patents out there that patents are basically becoming worthless. I wonder what would happen to our court system if everyone just started ignoring patents? Lets see VoloMedia defend their patent when 50,000 people are ignoring it.

EMI Only Selling CDs To Mega-Chains From Now On

SoulRider Re:Anonymous Coward (334 comments)

Unfortunately that wont happen. The current crop of dimwits will make sure that the new crop of dimwits are just as dimwitted as them. They have a legacy to maintain after all.

US Open Government Initiative Enters Phase Three

SoulRider Re:Lol Democracy (572 comments)

Actually the cotton industry is one of the largest lobby groups against legalization of pot. Also the oil industry spends quite a bit on keeping it illegal (the oils in hemp have many uses). Industrial hemp has so many uses and is so easily renewable that there are quite a few industries who would like to see it kept illegal. So its not just bad cops and drug dealers keeping it illegal, I really doubt that those two groups have enough influence to keep prohibition going (unless you are a conspiracy theorist).

Then this is business as usual for the RIAA, only instead of just doing it to artists they are doing it to everybody.

Senator Applauds Pirate Bay Trial, Chides Canada

SoulRider Re:"373,375 jobs" Each year? Big fucking deal (526 comments)

Aww, it makes it look like he is doing something important (fighting the baby killing pirates) and gets him re-elected. All without really having to do anything but take soft money from an industry that gives nothing back to his home state. Shouldnt we be questioning his constintuency instead? Who are these clueless people who seem to have no idea what a tool their senator is? And shouldnt we be educating them?
