Positive Ebola Test In Second Texas Health Worker

SpockLogic Re:But flights from West Africa are OK? (463 comments)

Because the loss in economic activity that would result would kill more people than Ebola.

Economic activity ??? This is what you get when profit is the driving force in the "health care industry".

Now is the time to make the whole nations health the priority.

SpockLogic Re:But flights from West Africa are OK? (463 comments)

Why aren't we quarantining Texas?

I've been asking this for years.

Texas was ready to secede from the USA, maybe now is a good time.

Illinois University Restricts Access To Social Media, Online Political Content

SpockLogic Re:More about Indoctrination (130 comments)

Perhaps it is because the university is more about indoctrination than education.

This reeks of the university administration imposing a policy that the faculty and students will ultimately defeat.

Comcast-Time Warner Deal May Hinge On Low-Cost Internet Plan

SpockLogic Re:Actually there is a name for this behavior (114 comments)

It's called empty promises. The primary purpose of this merger is not nor will it ever be to take care of the poor. It merely serves to unhook the approval process that would create an internet oligarchy.

Cheap internet for anybody is the last thing that these guys want.

Remember the AT&T 768Kbps $10.00 a month naked internet service that was almost impossible to find. It was the short term bribe to get the BellSouth merger passed the regulators. This is Comcrap's version of the same three card monte.

But they actually know and understand the curriculum. Besides which, professors at real universities aren't hired to teach, they're hired because of the research they've done. So yes, they have experience in research.

Tenured professors are hired to do research, adjunct professors are the under paid teachers.

Gasoline from Fresh Air

SpockLogic SpockLogic writes  |  more than 2 years ago

SpockLogic (1256972) writes "Revolutionary new technology that produces “petrol from air” is being produced by a British firm.
A small company in the north of England has developed the “air capture” technology to create synthetic petrol using only air and electricity.
Experts tonight hailed the astonishing breakthrough as a potential “game-changer” in the battle against climate change and a saviour for the world’s energy crisis.
The technology, presented to a London engineering conference this week, removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The “petrol from air” technology involves taking sodium hydroxide and mixing it with carbon dioxide before "electrolysing" the sodium carbonate that it produces to form pure carbon dioxide.
Hydrogen is then produced by electrolysing water vapour captured with a dehumidifier.
The company, Air Fuel Syndication, then uses the carbon dioxide and hydrogen to produce methanol which in turn is passed through a gasoline fuel reactor, creating petrol.
Company executives hope to build a large plant, which could produce more than a tonne of petrol every day, within two years and a refinery size operation within the next 15 years."
