It's all part of the larger Apple strategy...

It's not an official Apple strategy until Samsung copies it. Zing. Fan the flames of fanboy rage. Wifi so serious?

Your Car Will Tell You How To Hit the Next Green Light

Sponge Bath Traffic Calming (364 comments)

Some places, like Corpus Christie Texas, actively timed lights to minimize the flow of traffic. Officials used the term "traffic calming". You can't get to green when the intent is to stop you with red. It's been a while, so maybe that horrific policy is no longer in place.

Typo Keyboard For iPhone Faces Sales Ban

Sponge Bath Re:patented keyboard technology? (205 comments)

Your link is for an Apple suit over a design patent. Rounded corners was only a part of that design patent. Anyone can use rounded corners and not violate the design patent. They can't copy the entirety of the design patent. Hence the conclusion that Apple suing over the stand alone concept of rounded corners is a myth.

The Myth of the Science and Engineering Shortage

Sponge Bath Re:A myth indeed. (392 comments)

Social security is 6.2%, and 1.45% for medicare, making it combined 7.65%

That is the part that shows up on a paystub, then the employer pays the same again making the total 15.3%. Those who are self employed get to pay the full amount themselves. I always thought it was tricky to hide half of payroll taxes in that way. It's always better to have the real numbers in people's face.

GNU C Library Alternative Musl Libc Hits 1.0 Milestone

Sponge Bath Why is libm.a empty? (134 comments)

From the FAQ:

On musl, the entire standard library is included in a single library file — libc.a for static linking, and libc.so for dynamic linking. This significantly improves the efficiency of dynamic linking, and avoids all sorts of symbol interposition bugs that arise when you split the libraries up — bugs which have plagued glibc for more than a decade.

Bringing it all together? That's why they call it the love musl.

$30K Worth of Multimeters Must Be Destroyed Because They're Yellow

Sponge Bath Re:To be fair... (653 comments)

I would have to agree with you on that. The summary refers to the Sparkfun multi-meter as "yellowins-orange" but in the picture it looks strikingly like the yellow that fluke uses. The grey face is pretty darn close to the grey Fluke uses too. I'd like to see a side by side comparison photo.

The curves and proportions are slavishly copied as well. This was meant to confuse no doubt.

They will pay in the fabulous new wbcoin crypto currency. Just as soon as they get some kickstarter money to develop it. Contribute now!

Kickstarted Veronica Mars Promised Digital Download; Pirate Bay Delivers

Sponge Bath Re:Investors? Really? (243 comments)

I think it's closer to throwing some disposable cash over the wall in the vague hope that the participants deliver something resembling their pitch. If you are that worked up about your contribution, don't play with kickstarter.
