IRS Misses XP Deadline, Pays Microsoft Millions For Patches

Stormwatch Stupid to use Windows in the first place (322 comments)

Why the hell are they using Windows? Government agencies should not be allowed to use proprietary software in the first place. Let stupid private companies throw themselves into any vendor's lock-in, but the people's data should not be subjected to it, ever!

GameSpy Multiplayer Shutting Down, Affecting Hundreds of Games

Stormwatch Re:Why do companies buy then shutdown something (145 comments)

Which is why I think, maybe companies should not be allowed to buy or merge with other companies. If you're not good enough to live alone, you die, period.

Michael Abrash Joins Oculus, Calls Facebook 'Final Piece of the Puzzle'

Stormwatch What about InfinitEye? (232 comments)

After the FB/Oculus news, I looked into alternatives and found about this InfinitEye project from France that claims to do 210 degree of horizontal FOV, fully covering the human peripheral vision (while the Rift only does only 90 degrees). I'd pay attention to this one now.

Facebook Buying Oculus VR For $2 Billion

Stormwatch Re:Lets wait and see (535 comments)

Then again, Facebook has not broke Instagram?

That's implying that Instagram was worth jack shit to anyone but retarded, duckface-selfie-taking, fake-blonde teenage girls.

How Did Bill Nye Become the Science Guy?

Stormwatch Re:Origins in Comedy, eh? (220 comments)

Bill Nye won out? Huh, that's interesting. Here in Brazil, back in the 90s, both shows were aired: Beakman's World was quite popular, while Bill Nye was completely ignored. In fact, I recall watching Nye once and thinking... "this Beakman-wannabe is much less fun."

Firefox 29 Beta Arrives With UI Overhaul And CSS3 Variables

Stormwatch No respect for the HIG (256 comments)

These days, interface designers think a HIG should be printed on toilet paper. Browsers now always look "alien" to whatever environment where they're run. Here's a tip, you dolts: cut this "too cool for rules" bullshit. Each system gives you standard windows, standard buttons, standard decorations, standard everything -- use them, always! Regard the HIG as a holy bible! Make the program belong with the system!

Stormwatch Jayce (276 comments)

With all the movies based on old cartoons these days, wouldn't this be a good time for a Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors movie?

Is One Laptop Per Child Winding Down?

Stormwatch OS agnosticism is a mistake (111 comments)

Getting children used to a free, non-proprietary operating system -- weaning them off Microsoft's teats, so to say -- is a social good in itself. To abandon this goal was a huge mistake.

Google Ordered To Remove Anti-Islamic Film From YouTube

Stormwatch Re:In before... (321 comments)

If this had been a group of muslims funded by al Qaeda, who had made a grossly inflammatory hate movie against your greatest hero, whoever that is, would you have come out to defend their freedom of speech?

How factually correct is their movie?

Ford Dumping Windows For QNX In New Vehicles

Stormwatch Re:Hurd is dead (314 comments)

Also the hype about message passing microkernels died a decade back. They look great on paper but in theory they're slow and inefficient.

But isn't that precisely what fast and efficient QNX is?
