ThatFunkyMunki Re:HP Is Being Cheap = LOSER segment (121 comments)

I have a samsung series 7 gamer laptop and the speakers on it are great! Even has a (albeit tiny and mostly useless) "subwoofer" in there.

Gmail Drops Support for Connecting To Pop3 Servers With Self -Signed Certs

ThatFunkyMunki Re:Google can do what they want. (299 comments)

Yes, you can. The only issue is that when you are using the gmail interface to download mail from an external POP3 server, if you want the connection to be encrypted, your SSL certificate cannot be self-signed. This does not affect anything to do with using regular gmail with a regular POP3 client.

Disorderly Conduct Charge for Offensive Classmate Ratings

ThatFunkyMunki Re:This is from my neighborhood! (371 comments)

Off topic, but still. About your signature: If A is B, is B A? If cats are animals, are animals cats?

More like if A is described as B, could B be described by A?

Disorderly Conduct Charge for Offensive Classmate Ratings

ThatFunkyMunki This is from my neighborhood! (371 comments)

My little sister was on this list. Seems like an overreaction to fuck him over like this but it looks like she was pretty perturbed over this whole thing, reasonable I guess. I wouldn't say it was bullying but it definitely caused a lot of drama and people were really upset over it. It should probably be mentioned that this wasn't the first time he did something like this so the harsher penalties make a little more sense in that context. Then again, he's a black kid in a community controlled by whitevadulrs so I'm sure if he offended their little angels then he is gonna face some serious problems.

Duh, what did you expect? A trojan horse is when the big present comes in, and all the little guys come out inside the base! Seems like a no-brainer that I wouldn't trust something like that with wrapping my schlong

Android 2.1 Finally Makes It To Droid

ThatFunkyMunki Re:Too bad it won't work in Canada (132 comments)

Um, at&t compatible means it uses GSM. N900 and Nexus 1 both are unlocked and use GSM. You can easily use them on your network without any problems. Droid is CDMA so you cant use that one but 2/3 is OK, right?

Are You a Blue-Collar Or White-Collar Developer?

ThatFunkyMunki Re:It's about social status... (836 comments)

Sounds like a much more serious stubbornness and refusal to learn problem than a "my brain can't hack it" problem. That is why a CS degree was not for you, you lack the problem solving skills necessary to be an effective programmer. That's what calculus courses teach, the ability to solve real-world problems using math.

Reflections On the Less-Cool Effects of Filesharing

ThatFunkyMunki What about private trackers? (458 comments)

I have accounts with and and their top10s are almost always filled with non-major label releases. Maybe thepiratebay is a haven for major label listeners but that's because it's public and all of the people who don't spend time figuring out what non-major label music is good go there for their top40 hits. Waffles has a huge amount of music tracked and the data going through their torrents is huge... maybe not on the scale of torrents that thepiratebay is hosting but still significant.
