World of Warcraft Loses 1.3 Million Players in First Quarter of 2013

Thing I am Re:not where from, where to? (523 comments)

Same here. I'm done with MoP. Same shit different graphics. I played EVE for a couple of years then stopped for a year. I came back last month, fired up my indy alt account as well and had a ton of research points to turn in! Some of my old corp mates returned about the same time as me so we pretty much have the old gang back together.

Most of those comments were shameful and indecent.

That's about the correct ratio for "Ask Slashdot" posts.

Anonymous Leaks 1M Apple Device UDIDs

Thing I am Re:So is apple... (282 comments)

Don't quote me on this but I think the Vostro is one of the few laptops with a matte finish nowadays. So the remainder of the Apple (obviously) and Dell stock is pretty much defective by design. Thank the lord for the Vostro.

Quoted for future reference. Thank you for your cooperation, citizen.

You don't need to recompile anything. Just modified your Apache config to turn on SSLHonorCipherOrder and select which ciphersuites to use. SSLCipherSuite !aNULL:!eNULL:!EXPORT:!DSS:!DES:RC4-SHA:RC4-MD5:ALL

At my place of employ, we track business data ...

Thing I am Re:Free vs. free (185 comments)

My guess is that one is free as in open source and the other is free as in didn't pay for it. I'm not sure which is which though.

When Big Brother Watches IT

Thing I am Re:Creepy but... (234 comments)

Similar to you, I operate at work knowing that I am being monitored. Video is being recorded in my office, in the building my office is in, on the roads I travel to and from the data center and in the data center. Phone calls are logged, email is being archived and company computers are routinely checked for unauthorized use. I never ever conduct personal business on company computers or time. I know this because I'm the one responsible for maintaining the systems. Sure it would be easy to circumvent for myself but it's not worth the hassle. It's easier just to do anything personal on my laptop.

Europe's Largest IT Company To Ban Internal Email

Thing I am Re:The idea is good, but email still has its place (601 comments)

How do you fuck somebody on the internet? I don't see how my small, pathetic, little cock can work its way through miles of coaxial, ethernet and fiber optic cables to eventually wind up in your mouth.

Weird repair

Thing I am Thing I am writes  |  more than 10 years ago This happens way to often to be coincedence so I'm going to start keeping track of it here. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 This guy, who's name I still don't know, came to my office and described the problem he was having with his computer. It was stuck in an endless cycle of rebooting. I agreed to take a look at it and went across the street to his office. As I entered the room I saw the computer and heard it in the process of another reboot. I sat down and quickly hit F8 so I could try safe mode. Once in safe mode I poked around in the registry looking for evil entries. Everything looked normal so I checked out the event viewer logs which looked normal also. I rebooted it to see if it would run normal and it started just fine. I ran a few apps and checked the running processes to no avail. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Chalk another one up to my presence fixing the computer. :)
