EU Votes For Universal Phone Charger

Tolleman Re:Dumb (358 comments)

From what I've understood. Micro USB was designed to make the male connector on the cable wear out, while with mini USB the female connector in the device wears out. I could be way off. I just woke up. But thats how I seem to remember it.

Fedora 16 Released

Tolleman Re:Fork-of-GNOME-2 Foundation (125 comments)

Wouldn't it be better to do more job on the fallback mode then to keep going on GNOME 2? Granted, GNOME 3 has some annoying dependencies. But the removal of bonobo and so on are rather nice pros.

How Can I Justify Using Red Hat When CentOS Exists?

Tolleman Re:Support and Release Schedule (666 comments)

Sounds rough, but I wonder how Scientific Linux can still get their releases out the door so much quicker. I guess more manpower or something? Granted, from the stuff I've read, the CentOS guys do not really want any additional help.

Mozilla partners with Microsoft Bing for a special

Tolleman How is this any different? (1 comments)

They got a better deal then from Google I suppose. How is this selling out? They previously did the same thing but to a different Search Engine company?

Spotify Sued For Patent Infringement

Tolleman Re:Spotify (151 comments)

Its native native. Uses QT for the UI. In app volume control doesn't work. And they no longer maintain the Fedora/RHEL packages. But if you use a deb based distro it should work just fine.

RIM Responds To an Employee's Open Letter

Tolleman Re:Don't try to compete with iPhone and Android (197 comments)

Well that, and Nokias E-series is also buisiness oriented. So Nokia and Microsoft are RIMs real enemies in this the phone market.

The upcoming E6 from Nokia looks rather nice. I've always liked the professional look of their E phones, like the E71 and E72. Goes well with a suite.

No Additional Firefox 4 Security Updates

Tolleman Re:This is gonna suck... (445 comments)

The tarballed version directly from autoupdates, well if the guy owning the firefox directory owns it. Works fine for single user systems. On multiple user systems, not so much.

Server farms? Kind of a bitch without ECC but I guess it works in some cases. Granted, what do I know, maybe they will be slapping ECC support into them.

Graphics-Enabled CPUs To Take Off In 2011

Tolleman Re:Overheating already... (172 comments)

If the actual laptop gets hot the paste has done its job. If the CPU is hot but the heatsink isn't. The paste hasn't done its job.

Nokia and Microsoft Make Smartphone Alliance

Tolleman Re:Meego and Symbian aren't dead just yet (479 comments)

Low-priority? They've had a rather decent system going since 2005, released a phone running it in november 2009 and while it had some flaws. It was really rather decent even from a non geek point of view(I have a few non geek friends that love it) while being awesome from a a geek point of view. Then they switched the entire base, and the frontend when they switched to MeeGo. I've skipped getting a n900 to wait for the MeeGo device. But it seems like I'll get a n900 after all. The only thing that "sucks" on it is the touchscreen. I've never felt that Maemo/MeeGo was anything BUT a low-priority project. And thats pretty much why they are where they are. They spent a fortune on Symbian instead of going with was able to compete with their competitors. Nokia seems to have had retards for management for 4-5 years. Fucking retards. BTW, are there any third party capacitive touchscreens for the N900?

Why Debian Matters More Than Ever

Tolleman Re:re Debian Squeeze (345 comments)

I got scripts to download and compile the stuff I need when I go on new machines. So other then some basic X libs for dwm, git and a compiler. I really don't care what desktop apps a machine has. One command on any machine = my default desktop setup. Fairly handy.
