I typically start my workday ...

WhatsAProGingrass Here at 8, start at 9. (141 comments)

By the time I am actually "working" it is about 9 AM usually. I show up around 7:55AM every day and get a coffee and ease into work slowly. Once the coffee kicks in, I usually work pretty solid until lunch.

How much do you spend yearly on mobile apps?

WhatsAProGingrass Kid (240 comments)

Other than a few apps I bought for my son on his Kindle the answer is $0.00. I have been lucky enough to download the one app I would actually pay for "Swiftkey" on Amazon during a free app day.

Slashdot Asks: How Does the US Gov't Budget Crunch Affect You?

WhatsAProGingrass Working but nothing gets done! (1144 comments)

I am lucky enough to still be working. About half the people I work directly with were furloughed immediately. Very hard to get work done when I need their expertise and coordination. Kind of pointless to be there honestly. Yes I can catch up on some things, but most "real" work needs their assistance. Also, lost a roommate who was here for FAA class. He was sent back on that Tuesday. Gov paid for it all. Now he will not get his promotion for being certified. Also, he will have to fly back and Gov will pay for the class a second time. I lost that income as well as a roommate.

I use a screen protector ...

WhatsAProGingrass Never (194 comments)

I have never used any type of phone protector and have never broken a phone. I honestly do not get how some people break screens all the time. I have dropped my phone maybe 3 times in the past 2 years. Granted any one of those drops could have broke the screen but didn't. Most people go through phones so fast, I don't see the point in protecting it more than just taking good care of it in your pocket and take it out of pocket if you are doing activities that could damage it.

Ron Paul's New Primary Goal Is "Internet Freedom"

WhatsAProGingrass Re:Ban all marriage; civil unions for everyone! (948 comments)

I agree. Except for one thing. What if I want to marry 2 females? Why should the government restrict that? Why should we only be allowed 1 significant other when we might want 2 or 3 or 10?

Why We Agonize Over Buying $1 Apps

WhatsAProGingrass Android 10 Cents (523 comments)

I bought my first App off the Android Market when they were promoting there 10 Cent deal during the holidays. I thougtht to myself, now that I have put in my cc number and i'm only clicks away from buying another one, I just might. Then the next 10 Cent app I went to buy it told me to enter all my info in again so I declined to buy it. The point is, I think the 15 cent app idea would have worked for their business model.

I tend to keep random notes most often ...

WhatsAProGingrass Email (314 comments)

I usually email myself the note and keep it as unread until I'm ready to do the task at hand. Usually I end up just not doing it anyways.

Laser Incidents With Aircraft On the Rise

WhatsAProGingrass Re:No! Lasers don't blind pilots (546 comments)

It may not blind someone but have you ever had a laser pointed at your face? It makes you want to duck and close eyes and look away. If you were a pilot and a laser was pointed at you, I be your reaction would be the same. I'd think to myself "someone is pointing a gun in my face and I'm about to be shot." or at a minimum "a laser will blind me (even though it probably won't do shit) so I better duck and cover"

Facebook Billionaire Gives Money To Legalize Marijuana

WhatsAProGingrass Re:This is good (527 comments)

I just find it funny that they are basically getting rid of cigarettes in exchange for weed. You can't smoke at bars, schools, hospitals etc and the price is going lets legalize weed. ha ha. I don't smoke either one but I find this whole thing just funny.

75% Use Same Password For Social Media & Email

WhatsAProGingrass Re:The danger of too many password requirements (278 comments)

!QAZ@WSX3edc4 Yeah I agree, I think its stupid. Also, the government site is horrible as well. You have to mouse click the password on a virtual keyboard with letters all scrambled. So everyone over your shoulder can see what your clicking. You click slowly because the keyboard is scrambled.

TI Calculator DRM Defeated

WhatsAProGingrass Re:Ahh TI calculators (234 comments)

I missed about a month of multivarialbe calculus and showed up the day of the test without knowing ANYTHING. My 3 friends were studying there butts off and I said screw it, i'm programming everything in my calculator (89). I spent 4 hours hand typing all the things i would need. Step by step it would output the equations I needed. My friends thought I was crazy. I learned a lot about the test just from typing all that crap in. Well, I got a 100 on that test. Me and my friends always look back on that day and laugh.

TI Calculator DRM Defeated

WhatsAProGingrass Re:why? (234 comments)

If someone is good enough to write the emulator on a calculater and pull that off. He really doesn't have to cheat in the first place. He is proablly leaps and bounds ahead of his classes anyways.

Google Nabs Patent To Monitor Your Cursor Movement

WhatsAProGingrass Re:The only problem with that... (198 comments)

Do you honestly think they have not thought of these things? I'm not comp sci guy but it should be fairly easy to detect a "real" observation with mouse vs. an OCD mouse mover or a an idle mouse. I mean we can detect people's lies based on there face movements, why can't we detect people's observations with a mouse movement? If I do a google search and immediatley it opens up a page with 1 advert on the top...sometimes I hover over the advert but then see the same linke right below it which is not an advert. Depending on the company I click the advert or the link. For example, if its a business I don't much care for then I want google to get paid by them for the click. If its a business I want to survive, I reduce that cost by clicking the link. I do this withing milliseconds.

When Will the Automotive Internet Arrive?

WhatsAProGingrass Re:Don't need to have every car! Brilliant (261 comments)

I like to call it the "passing" lane. If your not passing the car to your right then you need to get over to the right regardless of what speed your at. Pass or move over, thats it.

MA High School Forces All Students To Buy MacBooks

WhatsAProGingrass Library, school, friends computers? (1217 comments)

The only requirement I had through highschool was to type my papers. If you didn't have a computer you could use a library computer, school computer, friends computer or a typewriter. The point is, it needs to be typed no matter what your excuse is. The real world does not need excuses. Just get the job done. Even when I took AP C++ course in HS, nobody ever required me to have a computer. This is complete BS. The kids that WANT to learn about computers will, the others don't give two shits about it. I know a 28 year old friend who doesn't even know how to email someone. She works at Home Depot and she owns her own business on the side. She also owns a 250K house from SAVING money.
