Chromebooks Are Outselling iPads In Schools

Wovel Wow (223 comments)

What a bizarre story with some pretty wild speculation. You are trying to compare what you assume is a 5 quarter average to what Google claims to have sold to schools in the last quarter. You them claim Apple is losing the education market to Google. You do realize nothing at all in the brief article or anything you linked to supports that claim. The one thing we know for sure is that Apple has sold 13 million devices to schools since 2012 and Google has sold at least 1 million.

Private Data On iOS Devices Not So Private After All

Wovel Re:Yet more corporate lies (101 comments)

Huh? You think the user unlocking their device with their pass code and then agreeing to trust a computer the device is physically connected to is the same as a backdoor?

I am not sure what you mean, it is clear you are the one who did not read or comprehend either the article or the post you responded to.

Private Data On iOS Devices Not So Private After All

Wovel Re:BlackBerry... (101 comments)

Blackberry, the company that routinely gives access to customer's "secure" data to governments all over the world without the customer doing anything at all. Are you high? You must be high if you purchased a z10.

Private Data On iOS Devices Not So Private After All

Wovel Re:Nothing new here (101 comments)

The funny thing is, even the most naive user in the world would understand that giving their pass code to the government agent or to Apple would give them access to the data on that device. Sure. Should iOS have a way to change the encryption key? Sure, why not.

Not sure why I am responding to an AC that is just clearly making crap up, but what he hell. So in summary, you just made that crap up.

Wovel Re:Horribly Inaccurate (101 comments)

I am not sure he was really dismissing him, just clarifying what he actually did with a useful analogy. I would not dismiss the GP so easily. He may not have the same background, but he is right. Right trumps background every time....

Apple and IBM Announce Partnership To Bring iOS + Cloud Services To Enterprises

Wovel Re:Sweet (126 comments)

That is likely because Apple addressed it more than 5 years ago. The enterprise App store does precisely that and you have been able to restrict Apple App store installation for about the same amount of time....

Apple and IBM Announce Partnership To Bring iOS + Cloud Services To Enterprises

Wovel Re:Sweet (126 comments)

Your talking about people that were let go? Why on earth do you care if they have to be mailed in if no one is using them (at least for a time)? I agree the management tool should be able to do it, but you made it sound like you had some reason for active users to be sending in their devices. You clearly do not.

Apple and IBM Announce Partnership To Bring iOS + Cloud Services To Enterprises

Wovel Re:Sweet (126 comments)

What are you talking about? That is not a requirement of iOS7 or any other version. You can now and always have been able to turn of find my iPhone from the device. Apple has some problems for enterprise support, but yours is not one of them...

Google To Take On Apple's CarPlay

Wovel Re:Consumer = LOSE (126 comments)

Entirely possible BMW did not stick to the standard. If they did it would work. My 5s works on a pioneer deck with the 30 pin connector that is 10 or 12 years old.

Google To Take On Apple's CarPlay

Wovel Re:apple and google are missing the point. (126 comments)

WTF is with all this generation naming crap. It is silly. When all we could come up with was Generation X we should have stopped. Now we have Millenials. WTF is a Millenial? The age range (according to Wikipedia) is people around 13 to 35 (Other sites place the range as 22-32 which seems a lot more reasonable). How does that mean anything? They have nothing at all in common. The GP post referred to Millennial and Generation Y as two different things. Everywhere else says they are the same thing. Which is it?

I somehow ended up in X. I have kids in Y, Z and whatever comes next. I was 6 when Y started and I did not have any kids until I was 22. Kids born when I was 6 have little in common with my son. People making all these presumptions about people based on these silly generation labels is ridiculous.

Just because the goofy GP can't pay his bills and prefers public transportation is an anecdote not a trend.

Apple's 2014 WWDC Keynote Will Be Streamed Live; Hopes For a Microconsole?

Wovel Re:Microconsole? (147 comments)

Seems much improved in 8. Been playing with it for a while and the more consistent fonts make the flat interface much better. The ios 8 beta feels much more polished than ios 7.1.1

Apple WWDC 2014: Tim Cook Unveils Yosemite

Wovel Re:Compareatively unspectacular, but not bad. (411 comments)

Only if you have it run as an app instead of in the browser. I am not sure why they elected to make the sandboxed browser less powerful. The only thing less clear is why you think that has anything at all to do with Apple contributing to FOSS.....
