absurdist FTS: (602 comments)

Reproducing an Ancient New World Beer

absurdist Bitch, bitch, bitch... (175 comments)

At best we get a close approximation of something Mesoamerican peoples might have quaffed 3400 or so years ago. At worst we get yet another interesting recipe and high-octane brew. Where exactly is the bad?

Apple's Trend Away From Tinkering

absurdist So buy your kid... (965 comments)

Radio Hams Fired Upon In Haiti

absurdist I would point out... (265 comments)

...that nowhere in this article does it say who fired on these people. It could just as easily have been Haitian police, private security, or UN troops. I doubt even they know; generally when being fired upon the proper response doesn't involve stopping to ask origin or intent.

Supreme Court Rolls Back Corporate Campaign Spending Limits

absurdist So if corporations are now legal "persons"... (1070 comments)

...when do we see the death penalty applied to them? The Ford Pinto's exploding gas tank and Union Carbide's Bhopal clusterfuck are merely the first examples that come to mind of corporations exhibiting depraved indifference to human life. Had an individual done these things he/she would be facing the death penalty; why should corporations be exempt?

Murdoch To Explore Blocking Google Searches

absurdist This is NOT baffling! (549 comments)

From the Summary: "'There's a doctrine called "fair use," which we believe to be challenged in the courts and would bar it altogether,' Mr Murdoch told the TV channel. 'But we'll take that slowly.'" Fair use is the target here. They don't want anyone to ever be able to use any current culture without payment and approval.
