CNN Anchors Caught On Camera Using Microsoft Surface As an iPad Stand

alexmogil Re:nfl forced to use surface (236 comments)

They can still use the printouts and faxes, too. If you watch some of the old school QB's like Peyton Manning, it seems like he refuses to use anything but the printouts.

Which Cars Get the Most Traffic Tickets?

alexmogil WRX (261 comments)

I drive a Subaru WRX/STi, and I've been pulled over once. When they realized I was over 40 and not a 17 year old with a souped up car they got really disappointed. I didn't get a ticket but they did say that my license plate frame was crooked.

Your Old CD Collection Is Dying

alexmogil Woo! (329 comments)

As if this couldn't have worked out better for those pining for a DRM future.

Are we licensing music? Truly? Then if I show that I bought this album in 1985 am I licensed to download the song?

AT&T Blocks Select 4chan Boards

alexmogil Re:GTFO MY /b/ (3 comments)

I hope this struggle doesn't delve into "the content is bad." Major news organizations (insert film of exploding van here) will likely speak of the content of the site and skew people's opinion. The fact is that a provider is limiting access based on their ability to control said access.

Gah, this is pathetic. The inevitable antics from Anonymous won't help much either.

Game Devs Using One-Time Bonuses to Fight Used Game Sales

alexmogil Re:Okay, but an option to buy (229 comments)

Apparently EA is allowing you to buy the content for $20 for NBA Live. This is a highly touted feature of the game and is most useful at the beginning of a season. If the original owner sells the game back to Gamestop soon after release, Gamestop is going to charge $54.99 for it. So the full version of the game is now $74.99.

What bothers me most about this is eBay sellers. These people can open boxes and take codes and sell the games as new. Additionally some poor sucker who buys a game from an eBay seller doesn't know if the codes truly used or not.

Pretty shitty out of EA, but it's been equally shitty out of Gamestop to run an unchecked pawn shop business for the last 5 years.

Universal Music Declines new long-term iTunes Deal

alexmogil alexmogil writes  |  more than 7 years ago

alexmogil writes "Universal has opted not to sign a long term deal with Apple for digital music distribution. Previously, Universal signed a two year and then a single year extension, but now has opted to decline a new two year deal opting to go month-to-month — potentially allowing Universal to sign new deals with other online vendors, or none at all. Universal is the largest music company and produces one out of every three albums sold in the US."
