It's not pirated content. Ever notice the Kopimi link at the bottom of TPB pages? http://www.kopimi.com/kopimi/

beachcoder Re:Seems to get hung up at 96% for me (55 comments)

As it says in the blog post:

If you’re doing this for the first time, you’ll be prompted to authenticate the Wolfram Connection app in Facebook, and then sign in to Wolfram|Alpha (yes, it’s free).

The Rebirth of PC Gaming? Bring On the Modders!

beachcoder Re:Rebirth (249 comments)

My sister bought a Wii early on, she played it religiously for about a month. Since then I've clocked about 10 horus on it and that's far more than she has put in.

Did she only play it on Sundays?

Ask Slashdot: What's the Most Depressing Sci-fi You've Ever Read?

beachcoder Re:Short Story (1365 comments)

There are alternate endings; I never really liked the original ending (though that could have been the execution rather than the concept). Not sure what the book ends with though (didn't know there was one).

Berkeley Law Releases Its First Web Privacy Census

beachcoder Re:Not as simple as "use Tor!" (55 comments)

Another Opera user here. I enable cookies from only the site I visit, and they're auto-deleted when I close Opera. Coupled with the Wand and Notes/Personal info only a right-click away, it keeps a lot of the guff out of the system.

How Many Seconds Would It Take To Crack Your Password?

beachcoder Re:Websites (454 comments)

A few years ago, MSN let me change my Live password online to a 16 character password. Unfortunately, Live Messenger artificially limited you to entering 8 characters when logging in.

Microsoft Ignores Usability With All-Caps Menu in Visual Studio

beachcoder Re:All part of their retro-COBOL strategy (415 comments)

Freaking Office 2010 with the ribbon crap confuses the heck out of me, because I can never find the function I want. Where's the undo function? Find-and-replace? Full justification? I know they're in that mess of Egyptian hieroglyphics, but I have no clue where.
