Apple's Diversity Numbers: 70% Male, 55% White

bumba2014 rasisme (557 comments)

I like to know how many white vs non white in a certain region live. If 80% is white and 20% is black, than don't expect 50% white vs 50% black in a company. That's stupid. Same goes for man vs woman, how many man do programming, and have studied programming or such, vs how many woman program and have studied programming. You can't make it 50% in a company. That's no equality, that only will course white people hate other people... If I had a large company, I wouldn't care about black or white or numbers. I would look at credentials, and how he would interact with my team. Getting woman on your floor also increases the change at lawsuits for harassment. I have known a few woman who programmed in my company, I personally would have thrown them out, I liked them, they were nice, but their code quality was terrible. So If you have a pool of people to choose from you like to choose the best, if there are more white male people in that pool, the changes are you choose a white male. If a black woman would come by and would show she can program much better than most people white man in my company, I wouldn't hesitate to give her the job. But I wouldn't select her because of some number. A company needs to make money to survive, not conform to some government standard.

Microsoft To Drop Support For Older Versions of Internet Explorer

bumba2014 Don't forget #11 (138 comments)

I suggest they stop supported version 11 also, that way a lot of problems in the internet will be solved.... Making a website will become much easier, less frustration and we could get payed a little better at the hour, not having to stay awake for nights getting it working on some version of MSIE...

Programming Languages You'll Need Next Year (and Beyond)

bumba2014 I don't... (315 comments)

Who cares about a fucking language. I know more that 20 different programming languages, I don't care about one more or less. What can it do, that I can't do already ? Can I program faster, or better? Or is it just an other syntax, for some obscure system ?

Laser Eye Surgery, Revisited 10 Years Later

bumba2014 not a permanent fix (550 comments)

your eyes mostly don't change between 25 en 40, probably 50, I don't have any idea. But my eyes stayed the same from around that time until now. And I'm still happy with the operation. Less than a decade is of course too bad. Only advantage I see, is that if you had -4 or more, that you can subtract it from your new glasses. So having -1 after 5 years, would probably have been -5 without the operation. If you had -1 or -2, I don't think I would have ever done that operation...

bumba2014 Advantages and Disadvantages (550 comments)

I did it like 8 years ago. And I'm still happy that I did it..... The only few disadvantages are that I was able to see very sharp at around 5 cm, now I can't anymore. My fingers need to be at least 10 cm away to see them clearly. I also don't like the bugs flying in my eyes when I'm riding my bike.... But not having to search every morning where I left my glasses, or cleaning my glasses every time it rains, or taking in and out of lenses everyday, made my life a lot more bearable.

Internet Explorer Vulnerabilities Increase 100%

bumba2014 Re:Surprise! (137 comments)

I also do not understand, those people still using MSIE, they even send me articles which say that MSIE is more secure as Firefox or Chrome... Well I never have had an trojaner or virus from using Firefox/Mozilla the last +10 years. Have had a lot of problems until I stopped using that big piece of shit/crap MSIE. But of course like Einstein said two things are infinite, the cosmos and human stupidity. And he wasn't sure about the cosmos....

KDE Releases Frameworks 5

bumba2014 Re:kde - the last best hope for the desktop (87 comments)

it won't because it isn't just an improvement on the inside. And they are mostly using QML instead of hardcoded dialogs. But if you want to, probably someone makes a windows 8 like start screen. There are a lot of plugins for kde already available...

KDE Releases Frameworks 5

bumba2014 Re:KDE becoming more rococo every day (87 comments)

Every new addition to KDE gives me one more reason not to use it.

It's interesting if you look at the amount of people using KDE, they probably aren't complaining, only a small group of people, who are never happy are complaining. On Gnome there aren't that many who complain, because most people don't use it. Only this gives a false impression as if gnome would be better. But I think it would be better, if gnome had never been designed, Diversity of course is nice on the linux platform. But it is one of the reasons linux has such a low usage on the desktop...

Wikipedia Editors Hit With $10 Million Defamation Suit

bumba2014 Falun Gong / Falun Dafa (268 comments)

I'm not sure about the English version, but the German version about Falun Gong / Falun Dafa contains a lot of negative lies, spread by the CCP. Every time someone corrects it, someone from china will change it back. At the end they didn't allow any changes anymore, and put half the truth and half the lies in it. Unfortunately a lot of people believe what is written in those articles. I can imagine this happening to a lot of subjects.

there is no network transparency, that feature hasn't been used for years. Microsoft also tried something like that with clients using WPF, never heard about it again...
