and if this was sci-fi you would have a point... but when it comes to physics I would like at least some kind of qualifications to ensure that the author isn't just blowing smoke up peoples backside (while taking their money).

that was exactly what I was wondering... what, precisly is so shocking about a scientist who has faith? That only describes the VAST majority of professional and armchair scientists I know (yes, anacdotal... bite me :P )

Microsoft Suspends Gamer For Being From Fort Gay

butterflysrage Re:Huh? (490 comments)

my point was that the whole "it's exercise" thing is kinda lost when looked at the big picture. Yes, getting out and moving is good for you, breathing in coal dust for 12h a day for 20 years.... kinda offsets any perks you get from the exercise.

NIH Orders Halt To Embryonic Stem Cell Research

butterflysrage Re:Buy one get one? (593 comments)

they need to get rid of that "agree to filibuster" thing they have going on.... if you want to tie things up for hours and hours, then by gum you should have to work at it and ACTUALLY tie things up for hours and hours, not just say "can we agree that we are going to filibuster this so we can all go home and go fishin'?"

Toyota Adds External Speakers To Warn Pedestrians

butterflysrage Re:Only Priuses? (531 comments)

1) buy a mirror.
2) get bigger glasses
3) learn what fuzzy shape is a car for your specific vision problem
4) when in doubt, look twice, if the grey blob is gaining on you, odds are it is a car.

I bike, I have glasses, I've NEVER had a probem telling what grey blob is a car, and what is not.

The minority government planed on introducing the bill last winter but backed down in the face of huge criticism, and with parliament set to break for the summer it is not known when the second reading of the bill will take place."

Canadian govt ponders $45mil boost for space pad

butterflysrage butterflysrage writes  |  more than 6 years ago

butterflysrage (1066514) writes "The Canadian government is considering a $45 million boost to the planned commercial rocket launch center to be built in Cape Breton.

"The Globe, citing anonymous sources, said the funding would not be a federal subsidy, but would instead come from the proceeds of a special agreement the federal government made when signing a $3.2-billion contract last year with U.S. manufacturer Lockheed Martin."

If approved, the funds would be used to purchase rockets as well as technology used on the site itself."
