Massachusetts SWAT Teams Claim They're Private Corporations, Immune To Oversight

I like this argument. It would be wonderful to bring it before a judge.

Why China Is Worried About Japan's Plutonium Stocks

charles05663 Under the increasing pressure from China (398 comments)

I would expect Japan to re-militarize. With China ever increasingly flexing its military power in the region it might be good to have a strong military in Japan. And notice it is the Chinese who are worried more then anyone else.

Botched Executions Put Lethal Injections Under New Scrutiny

charles05663 What is wrong the the Soviet & China style (483 comments)

The constitution say no cruel and unusual punishment. The Soviets and Chinese have executed 10's of millions of people with a bullet to the head. It is quick, therefore not cruel and not unusual for it has been used millions of times.

Oklahoma Botched an Execution With Untested Lethal Injection Drugs

charles05663 Re:Cruel and Unsual Punishment (1198 comments)

At one time, the world was thought to be flat, and after that, many thought that the universe rotated around the earth (and plenty of GOP still do). Is that what you want to go back to, or are you going to allow science and knowledge to take hold and make changes in our policy?

At the time this country was found both of these statements were know to be false. How is this related?

Oklahoma Botched an Execution With Untested Lethal Injection Drugs

charles05663 Re:Hang them (1198 comments)

+1 on the .22lr. My guess is it is not used because it is up close and personal. Maybe they could have convicted killers draw straws do the execution. I know the Communists prefer the bullet to the head method. Heck, the used to bind people together so the could perform multiple executions at the same time to save ammo. And on a plus, it would not be fail the "cruel and unusual" test. Both the Soviets and the Chinese have executed 10's of millions with this method.

Oklahoma Botched an Execution With Untested Lethal Injection Drugs

charles05663 Cruel and Unsual Punishment (1198 comments)

The framers of the Constitution and Bill Of Rights did not think it to be "cruel and unusual" to hang people. Why do people today think it is? Why not go back to what was acceptable when the foundations of our nation were laid.

Heartbleed Pricetag To Top $500 Million?

charles05663 Maybe... (80 comments)

Maybe the companies that rely on open source software will realize that supporting the projects financially is in their best interest instead of freeloading like they do now.

White House To Propose Ending NSA Phone Records Collection

charles05663 Re:Did you vote for Obama? (208 comments)

Rand Paul would be different. Romney would be different. Your bigoted argument against aside, the main stream media would have used Snowden to daily attack Romney as a tyrant and forced his hand. There would be Snowden statues in front of every news agency by now.

bigoted bigtid/ adjective adjective: bigoted
1. having or revealing an obstinate belief in the superiority of one's own opinions and a prejudiced intolerance of the opinions of others.

How is this bigoted?

While I did not spell it out, I was simply referencing the fact that the CIA likes to hire Mormons because of their missionary experience in overseas countries. In addition, the NSA like the CIA appreciates their experience. Also, with the NSA building their new data center in Utah, I am sure that the vast majority of the hires will be Mormons.

I made no statement against their beliefs. They are free to believe what they wish.

I on the other hand am not afraid to let people know who I am. Why are you hiding behind your posting as an Anonymous Coward?

White House To Propose Ending NSA Phone Records Collection

charles05663 Re:Did you vote for Obama? (208 comments)

While I don't support Obama, Romney would be no different.

Remember, the CIA and the NSA are have a high percentage of Mormons working for them.

Comcast Turning Chicago Homes Into Xfinity Hotspots

charles05663 A Client of Mine Had One Installed Yesterday... (253 comments)

I have a client (a business) in Montpelier, Vermont who had their residential cable service upgrade to "business" class. I was there while they did the work. While they were still there I checked out their work and found the extra cable modem and WiFi router and asked them about it (this was two additional devices off of a splitter). They informed me that it was part of the Xfinity service to provide a public hotspot. I said great, what is the login credentials so visitors to the office can use it. I was informed that since they were a business they (the client) was not permitted to use it and it was only for other Comcast users. I then proceeded to closet where everything was and unplugged the modem and hotspot and only left the business class modem they left. You could tell that they were pissed but could do nothing about it.

What pissed me off is that the client is paying for the electricity and hosting the device for Comcast and not allowed to use it. To top it all off, the stuck a sticker on the clients front window advertising the hotspot with out asking (this is a law office). Needless to say, I ripped that sticker off the minute I saw it.

Vermont Yankee Nuclear Plant To Close In 2014

charles05663 Cheap electricity? (249 comments)

Living in Vermont I can tell you that electric prices are not cheap. Too bad the electric companies don't pass the saving to the consumer. In my area, Central Vermont Power was purchased by Green Mountain Power and my power bill went up 50% overnight.
