What kind of person doesn't have a trunk? Is he In an exotic sports car? In which case the key to avoiding smashes and grabs is to drive a crappier car.

[citation needed] where in the GC does it talk about blinding lasers? does it make a distinction between "stunned" temporary blindness and permanent blindness?

I'd rather be lasered in the face than gassed or shot with bean bags or beaten. As long as the thing is not attached to a giant shark.

I've done that too, where I'm in a flame war with some guy, so I give him five negative mods on past comments. But somehow my own karma went from positive to terrible in one day, so it appears that the mod system is self-correcting.

Typically, I touch N computer keyboards daily:

cheeks5965 Re:Lot of keyboards around me (192 comments)

Yeah but the poll isn't about computers, it's about computer keyboards. My smartphone doesn't have a keyboard. It would be a stretch to call the chuckles blackberry style a keyboard, and even stretchier to call the touch screen a keyboard.

cheeks5965 Horrible tfs grammar. (153 comments)

I was going to do a ftfy, but it would be too long. Suffice to say that Although and But start off dependent clauses, and you can't have two dependent clauses in a sentence without an independent clause.

Why Everyone Hates the IT Department

cheeks5965 Re:Reflections (960 comments)

also, I haven't used office 2010, but 2007 is much more functional and productive than 2003. it's not just eye candy. this is the demeaning IT attitude that the article is talking about.

Why Everyone Hates the IT Department

cheeks5965 Re:Reflections (960 comments)

what's wrong with google desktop? for real I'm asking because I want to know, not to make noise. Also, google desktop addresses your point - Win7 has a good integrated search function, while XP does not. I need google desktop to give me basic functionality on xp that I would get by default on Win7.

Whither the Portable Optical Drive?

I think you're conflating several related but different ideas. Average != median. Some != many != most. Btw my karma went form positive to terrible in one day. I didn't even know you could have terrible karma!

Well my household income is less than 100k, and I have THREE iPads! My subjective experience trumps your anecdotal estimation.

maybe more companies should follow apple's example and actually try to innovate something, rather than buying someone else's IP so you can deploy against competitors once you've stolen their work and they are suing you.

Why do I have "terrible" karma?

Air Cars: hot idea or hot air? (hint: the latter)

cheeks5965 cheeks5965 writes  |  more than 4 years ago

cheeks5965 (1682996) writes "We've argued before over compressed air vehicles a.k.a. air cars. Air cars are an enchanting idea, providing mobility with zero fuel consumption or environmental impacts. NYTimes Green Inc. blog reports that the reality is less rosy. New research from UC Berkeley and ICF International puts a period at the end of the discussion, showing that:

* Compressed air is a very poor fuel, storing less than 1% of the energy in gasoline.
* Air cars won't get you far, with a range of just 29 miles in typical city driving.
* Despite appearing green the vehicles are worse for the environment, with twice the carbon footprint as gasoline vehicles, from producing the electricity used to compress the air.

Given these barriers, manufacturer claims should definitely be taken with a grain of salt."
