cioxx (456323) writes "After a meticulous analysis of the purported MacBook WiFi "hack" by couple of individuals during a Black Hat 2006 conference, John Gruber of BBEdit fame has now issued an open challenge to David Maynor and Jon Ellch to replicate the hack in a controlled setting — default "out-of-the-box" MacBook without 3rd party addons or drivers. Gruber invites them to delete a single file on the desktop in return for a brand new MacBook, using the method by which these individuals claimed to have gained control of the OS during the conference. The ball is not in the court of Maynor and Ellch to prove it was not a cheap publicity stunt, as many now suspect."
