Declining LG's New Ad-friendly Privacy Policy Removes Features From Smart TVs

contrapunctus Re:Send it back.... (221 comments)

For all you know it's a placebo button ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P... ) and they might still collect everything anyway (you many have to look at data sent). I remember news stories about someone who analyzed the network data and found data still being sent (that was an LG though, http://www.tomsguide.com/us/lg...).

Mozilla's 2012 Annual Report: 90% of Revenue Came From Google

contrapunctus Re:Open Source spending $30M on branding? (278 comments)

Ah not-for-profit.
Reminds me of a story.
A US city wanted a non-profit to buy an apartment complex (to rent for mostly university students). It had to be non-profit (keeps costs down or something).
A guy buys it and said it will be non-profit.
Gives himself 1 million dollar salary, his wife 1 million dollar salary, and same to daughter. But it was non-profit on paper.

Sears To Convert Old Auto Centers Into National Chain of Data Centers

contrapunctus Re:Trying a new business model (167 comments)

I don't think it's about suing, I think it's about defrauding their investors (the whole bankruptcy BS).
Some of their stores are in really really prime real estate locations. They can just sell 1 store at a time and remain profitable for at least 50 years.
I don't know what their strategy is now...
