High Court Rules In Favor of Top Gear Over Tesla Remarks

coolgeek Re:Somebody who is... (328 comments)

Streisand Effect, somewhat. I think this will be called the Tesla Effect, which will be known as a sure fire method to alienate any media outlets that might seek to promote your products.

An Inside Look At the Rise and Fall of RIM

coolgeek Re:With the end of unlimited data plans...? (267 comments)

You're correct, I watch this happen to my friend on his Torch all the time. I've seen it happen a lot in an app named "Browser", and also in one called "Organizer". Guess he should uninstall those apps.

The Cost Of Broadband In Every Rural Home

coolgeek Re:What about power? (381 comments)

Maybe someone could invent some kind of a routing box that would take traffic from one broadband network and send it on to another one, and vice-versa.

You'd be crying about driving 150 miles round trip just to get to Target in about 3 weeks.

The Cost Of Broadband In Every Rural Home

coolgeek Re:Warning, not exactly objective research here (381 comments)

That's just a silly argument. The comparison would be, do you expect them to pay for your roads, and of course, the answer is they already have.

The Cost Of Broadband In Every Rural Home

coolgeek Re:Warning, not exactly objective research here (381 comments)

I don't care if the numbers are real or not. It costs between $1,000,000-$9,000,000 per lane mile of highway out to those rural homes. If we're talking 2-4 homes/mile, the road costs many more times than the cost of the homes too. And $350K to give them broadband is pretty cheap by comparison. Broadband deployment should be viewed as a similar infrastructure to homes, power lines, etc.

I believe the word you are looking for is "iteration". It's also much more efficient with stack space.

Infertile Daughter To Receive Uterus From Mother

coolgeek Re:Responsible? (358 comments)

I think having mom be a surrogate is contraindicated. Older women are more susceptible to preeclampsia.

Infertile Daughter To Receive Uterus From Mother

coolgeek Re:interesting angle (358 comments)

It's not that cut and dry. Placental integrity may be affected by the age of the uterus, which could lead to problems during gestation. Then again, hormones in the daughter's body may change the condition of the tissue the uterus is composed of.

Ask Slashdot: How To Ask For Equity In a Startup?

coolgeek Re:you're a contractor (349 comments)

This isn't about greed, it's about your narcissistic personality disorder.

You believe you are indispensable, and believe you should be rewarded without having taken any risks. It's too late dude. Now that the company has a "significant revenue already", that ship has sailed.

Perhaps the intent is insecurity through obscurity. Can't sabotage your enemy's systems if you tell them where all the holes are.
