Should Kids Be Bribed To Do Well In School?

courseofhumanevents Re:No (706 comments)

My teacher used to say that. I'd always ask him how many report cards I'd need to buy a car.

courseofhumanevents Re:six axes? (126 comments)

Being able to shoot yourself in the head in a FPS? That's revolutionary.

Pah! Trespasser was doing that back in 90's. Call me when there's a real revolution.

I don't think it was called anything before it was discovered, actually.

China Arrests Thousands In Internet Porn Crackdown

courseofhumanevents Re:The Less Porn the Better (204 comments)

Adults who willingly make a choice to use certain things constantly at harm to themselves are not society's burden.
We don't ban McDonald's because some folks don't eat anything else and hurt themselves in doing so.

US and Russia Open Talks On Limits To Cyberwar

courseofhumanevents Re:Pirates == terrorists? (80 comments)

Pirates aren't engaging in cyberwar. While I wouldn't think for a minute that the copyright cartels would pass up sticking their noses in this, it's not the main issue here.

Anticipated Closure of BitTorrent Sites Spurs Panic Downloads In China

courseofhumanevents Re:China? (114 comments)

I've found you can sort of recreate the experience by using Google to search directly for unprotected index pages or by sitesearching uploading sites like Mediafire and Rapidshare for key words. ...granted, you're liable to find much worse than what you were trying to search for.

Why Developers Get Fired

courseofhumanevents Re:From My Simpleton Point of View (535 comments)

I'm not sure if this is a particularly clever troll or just a grammar nazi in training, but the GP was using "past" correctly as an adverb, not a verb.

Major Carriers Shun Broadband Stimulus

courseofhumanevents No way (190 comments)

"All three say they are flush with cash, enough to upgrade and expand their broadband networks on their own."

I don't know what their real reasoning is, but you can be assured that it is not because they want to be responsible and expand with their own money.

Is Crowdsourcing the Next Big Thing In Game Design?

courseofhumanevents I hope not (47 comments)

The problem with allowing the general public to make content for a game is that you get content the general public makes. If you really want to play in Penisworld, be my guest, but as for me, I prefer content with coherent design beyond the capabilities of Joe Nobody.

Pixar's Next Three Films Will Be Sequels

courseofhumanevents Re:Good (379 comments)

Finding Nemo has so many "peril" scenes I want to shoot myself by the end of the fiftieth act, and they're all scary for kids. That movie in particular would lose nothing if the violence were toned down and edited by someone who's not in love with every scene.

My 2-year-old niece has yet to be frightened by anything in Finding Nemo over the 20+ times she's watched it.

Japanese ESRB Bans Rape Depiction In Games

So your argument is that because it exists, children are forced to play it and become rapists?

Square Enix Shuts Down Fan-Made Chrono Trigger Sequel

courseofhumanevents Re:It's a ROM hack (455 comments)

They aren't releasing the ROM. They're releasing a patch to the ROM. The patch contains entirely their own work.

To fix your comparison: You can't sue me for making a script that turns the characters in your non-free program blue.
