Flexible, Fiber-Optic Solar Cell Could Be Woven Into Clothing

deciduousness Half and half (65 comments)

Make half the shirt solar cells and half battery cells. I just want to be able to use this as a nice electric shock to unsuspecting people.

Study Finds Alcohol, Not Marijuana, Is the Biggest Gateway Drug For Teens

deciduousness FUD all over (459 comments)

People that say marijuana harms those around through smoke must never have heard of edibles or vaporizing. Don't make the whole argument about a single method, of which there are quite a few. Secondly, obligatory Bill Hicks: "We are losing the war against drugs." You know what that implies? There's a war being fought, and the people on drugs are winning it."

Was Earth a Migratory Planet?

deciduousness Re:Conclusions... (257 comments)

Bingo! Hubbard was a genius. Most religions appeal to the poor and lower middle class by letting them know that having too much money is a bad thing and they will get their reward in the afterlife where, presumably, the rich will get punished. Hubbard made it a good thing to have money. You can buy your way! Brilliant! Wish I would have thought of that :(

British MPs Propose Censoring Internet By Default

deciduousness Re:Great Idea (255 comments)

How the hell do people "stumble" into information/pictures that they don't want to see? I go all day every day at work and manage not to bring up a single porn site or questionable image with zero filtering.

Medicaid Hack Update: 500,000 Records and 280,000 SSNs Stolen

deciduousness Re:Not to be rude about it, but (64 comments)

Ha! 15%, I wish. The cheapest rate I got for my first car loan was 20%, and they made it clear that they were doing me a favor while they were gouging me.

Try an add-blocker on your browser? Personally I am way more offended by add then I am by nudity.

Anonymous Claims To Have Defaced Hundreds of Chinese Government Sites

deciduousness Blame the US (72 comments)

Seems like China would just blame the US government... the same way that if we see any attacks from China, we blame the Chinese government.

Dysfunctional Console Industry Struggles For New Profit Centers

deciduousness Love buying online (351 comments)

Personally I wish that every game was available to be bought online for consoles. I am actually pretty shocked that there are quite a few games that I can't buy online, especially new releases. When the closest game store is at least a half hour away in traffic, I would just rather not buy the game. It also encourages more impulse buying from me. When I end up with some free time and read about an interesting game... I want to play it now. If I can't play it now, I will just find a good book to read, which I can easily find online.

Studies Link Pesticides To Bee Colony Collapse Disorder

deciduousness Little bland on details (128 comments)

It looks like there are still more studies needed if we really want to understand what is going on here.

The treated bees were about two to three times more likely to die while away from their nests, and the researchers said this was probably because the pesticide interfered with the bees' homing systems, so they couldn't find their way home.

That seems like quite the leap in logic, but I don't have the actual study in front of me. That pesticide harms bees sounds like a REALLY obvious conclusion, I kinda like bees and what they do for us.

Blind Man Test Drives Google's Autonomous Car

deciduousness Lot of lame excuses (273 comments)

Tons of lame excuses in this thread for not accepting the start of a great technology. I have been saying for years that I wish my car could hook up to railroad tracks and autopilot me along them. This system would be so much better. Most of the complaints are from not RTFA. I know, must be new here. The rest of the complaints most humans cannot even deal with. The amount of energy that it would take to be as alert as these sensors 100% of the time would probably kill a normal human or at the very least, the humans senses would quickly degrade. I think a great start to this would be patches of straight, uncluttered, highway that is designed to handle this type of vehicle. Go from there! Sign me up!

AT&T Charged US Taxpayers $16 Million For Nigerian Fraud Calls

Just block the whole country. All I see is issues from Nigeria, Brazil and Russia that account for 90 some percent of the attacks and spam.

Facebook: Legal Action Against Employers Asking For Your Password

deciduousness Who does that? (504 comments)

Who asks for that type of information? Tell them they can have it, but it is the same password to all of your financial information and that they will be liable if there is any breach in information. Seriously though, there is no way someone could get a password out of me, to me that is akin to asking my PIN number to my DEBIT card.

Nokia Applies For Vibrating Tattoo Patent

deciduousness Tactile feedback! (97 comments)

I assume this could be used for alerting you for various things. Cell phone on vibrate. Or it could be used for feedback in video games. How about invisible fences for humans? Hikers could use this to be warned of dangerous areas or conditions. Could also be quite the distraction when you are driving.
