Patent Troll Ordered To Pay For the Costs of Fighting a Bad Patent

deniable Re:Sounds awesome except.... (191 comments)

You're also expected to be a subject-matter-expert on every application that crosses your desk. And remember, you have 2 minutes to review an application written by lawyers paid to write confusing applications.

Patent Troll Ordered To Pay For the Costs of Fighting a Bad Patent

deniable Re:but (191 comments)

Coffee hot enough to give 3rd degree burns to the genitals will probably get a lawsuit anywhere. That case gets trotted out as a negative example every time, but if you take the time to read up on it, it's the opposite.

Ask Slashdot: Taking a New Tack On Net Neutrality?

deniable Re:"we provide network access as part of rent" (185 comments)

Exactly. This is a technical solution to a marketing / admin issue. This should be handled by the suits, not at the network level. Probably some sort of group discount with the landlords / pimps getting a kick-back.

Wait until you have a corrupt printer driver. "Word keeps crashing!" It's easier to PDF the thing and move on.

Aussie Government Proposes OpenDocument As the Standard Format

deniable Re:Free copies of office (113 comments)

Australian governments can't use Office 365. The data centre in Singapore and the Patriot act make it impossible. There are moves to remove some restrictions but I'm not holding my breath.

iTunes: Still Slowing Down Windows PCs After All These Years

deniable Re:why does your phone need software running on yo (519 comments)

Nice goalpost move. I didn't say you have to sync with a computer. I said that if you do sync with a computer, you need the service. Your excuse, it's still crap but you don't really need it.

iTunes: Still Slowing Down Windows PCs After All These Years

deniable Re:why does your phone need software running on yo (519 comments)

Frivolous lawsuits are also legal. I can't think of anyone with enough lawyers who'd want to build it. It would be a hobbyist that caved at the first C&D letter.

iTunes: Still Slowing Down Windows PCs After All These Years

deniable Re:why does your phone need software running on yo (519 comments)

Same here but ATH.exe goes rogue every so often. Kill the process and I can't sync an iDevice until next reboot. I can't be bothered looking into it. I don't need to sync that much.

Set Your Watches For the End of Windows XP

deniable Re:MS won't sell or support XP anymore? (712 comments)

But they are selling the current version. You just need to upgrade from version 5.1 to 6.2. That's being sold and supported.
