Nobody Builds Reactors For Fun Anymore

domatic Re:What would you expect? (326 comments)

The reactors can be designed to drain into multiple tanks of subcritical mass. Furthermore, the drain plug can be designed such that if the fuel temperature exceeds x amount it melts and allows the fuel to drain.

OP wasn't talking about pouring them out on the ground.

Fusion Reactor Breaks Even

Doubt it. Light pressure is what compresses and heats the fuel.

Modern digital techniques are only superior if they aren't abused:

I've heard many old vinyl records that sound better than recent recordings because they haven't been crushed to death with brick wall compressors.

Amarok 2.8 "Return To the Origin" Released

domatic Re:Amarok - still my favourite player (99 comments)

Yeah but it still won't use lyrics embedded in the tag. Call me a "hater" but I HATE,HATE,HATE moronic player apps that default to searching online for data which I've already troubled to make accurate and embedded in the tag.

Interviews: Ask James Gosling About Java and Ocean Exploring Robots

domatic Autonomous Vehicles (87 comments)

It occurs to me that a small autonomous vessel would make a great "drug submarine". I'm not hanging that possibility on you. Someone will/has surely thought of it already. Do you see use of similar tech for "evil" being a problem in the near future?

Anti-Semitic != Anti-Israel in all cases. Israel is a particular political entity who's actions are not above criticism.

Electric Car Startup 'Better Place' Liquidating After $850 Million Investment

domatic Re:Will Tesla buy them? (193 comments)

Almost every supermarket in the US has filled tanks for exchange and the price is indeed fixed at about $25 bucks a pop. But I stopped going there when I found out the local Flying J truck stop would refill my tank for a third to at most half that. The fixed price exchanges are gouging you even if you bring in a fully expended tank.

Global Warming Shifts the Earth's Poles

domatic Re: Spinny-Chair (482 comments)

To get any appreciable thrust at all, he'd at least need to use an M-80. Bonus points if the vectors of what's left of the body moving forward and the asschunks moving in the other direction are accounted for with high speed photography.

Sounds like a good MythBusters episode to me. They can jam ever increasing amounts of explosives up the ass of pig carcasses.

I've heard of light bulbs used as current limiters in speaker stacks. Put something like a motorcycle tailight in series with a bass driver.

Are Some of North Korea's Long-Range Missiles Fakes?

domatic Re:Let's nuke them to be sure (322 comments)

At least 4 invasion tunnels.....that the powers that be admit to, have been found and it is widely thought they have some x number of tunnels that haven't been detected. The tunnels in question were large enough to accomodate armor and mobile artillery.

They could plausibly dump at least a division well behind the DMZ if they've managed to keep even two or three tunnels undetected and usable. This too can be countered by additional defensive rings further back from the DMZ but still it would add to the North's ability to make one hell of a mess before they get their teeth kicked in.

Though come to think of it, I wouldn't put it past us and the SK's to keep quiet about a few tunnels quiet then mining the holy bejezus out of them with some big dialed in arty to boot.
