doormat (63648) writes "Last week, Apple released their new iPod nano. We got one in the shop and took it for a spin to see what the next generation had in store. From outstanding battery life (almost 25 hours!), a much more durable case and screen, new ear buds and a few other things... DirecTV and HDTV

doormat doormat writes  |  more than 10 years ago Wow, this is big news. DirecTV plans on launching four Ka band satellites by 2007. Local HiDef channels over satellite for the biggest markets. 500 HD channels, at 5 per city thats 100 cities by the end of 2005, plus 1000 more HD local channels plus 150 national HD channels by the end of 2007. Freaking amazing, thats an aggrigate bandwidth of 34Gbit/s. The bandwidth crunch for satellite providers is over, and Ka is the answer.
