New Cyberbullying Evidence Rules May Go Too Far

drgregoryhouse Asian Law (125 comments)

I'm asian and not a lawyer. However it is well known that the accuse here bear a some burden of proof. And you are not allowed to be represented by a lawyer while under investigation/interrogation. US laws do not apply here. I'm referring to general legal matters not referring specifically to the Internal Security Act which allow detention without trial.

EU Court Rules Against Stem Cell Patents For Research

drgregoryhouse Re:Interesting scientific ethics (84 comments)

He needs to explain to his students that they can be rich beyond their wildest dreams because of their scientific discovery, sadly the court decision killed the dream. Actually he can explain to his student that it is a chicken and egg situation, without stem cells to begin with, there wouldn't be anything to implement with. Therefore, his scientific research will still have to be funded.

Google Employee Accidentally Shares Rant About Google+

drgregoryhouse Re:Amazon sells products, not ads. Huh? (354 comments)

Amazon can use a platform-based service because Amazon sells things for money.

When did google start selling ad for bitcoin?

Hurt Locker Lawsuits May Reach Canadians, Too

drgregoryhouse Re:What's the point? (159 comments)

The movie is acclaimed for its "realism". However as a trained national serviceman, I stopped watching after the part where the sergeant ordered his men individually into dark alleys. I would shoot the sergeant on the spot for endangering the lives of his men if I were there. Not a good movie IMO.

Belgian Newspapers Delisted On Google

drgregoryhouse Re:I am on Google side but... (385 comments)

I thought the same at first but after reading the court order from chilling effects(just follow the article links), I think otherwise.

- Order the defendant to withdraw the articles, photographs and graphic representations of Belgian publishers of the French - and German-speaking daily press, represented by the plaintiff, from all their sites (Google News and "cache" Google or any other name within 10 days of the notification of the intervening order, under penalty of a daily fine of 1,000,000.- ? per day of delay;

Steve Jobs: 'We Don't Track Anyone'

drgregoryhouse Re:A cell phone tracking cell towers? (373 comments)

From what I understood from a related earlier article, the beef of the scientists who discovered this tracking information is that Apple stored this info unencrypted on the phone without cleaning up even after transmitting it back to Apple. Like you the experts have no problem with the tracking itself, its the haphazard way it is implemented.

This info is left open to whoever wants to know where you've been, say if you lost or got your phone stolen. Or maybe an estranged partner can find out where you've been while you are sleeping.

Anonymous Goes After GodHatesFags.com

Don't think the fight here is regarding free speech. Those WBC freaks actually taunted the families of dead soldiers at their funeral. Remember what the soldiers die for.

WikiLeaks Nominated For 2011 Nobel Peace Prize

drgregoryhouse Re:The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke (495 comments)

This is a quote taken from my local newspaper, by Raj Patel on American discontent with President Obama.
"A lot of us thought of him as the pizza delivery guy of change, where we would sit on our couches and he would being hot, steaming change in 30 minutes."

Which leads me to think, cultures and civilization can be easily destroyed by the drop of a bomb, to rebuild that will take time.

drgregoryhouse Computer driving faster? So what? (187 comments)

As if I want to watch 20 computer racing each other on a race track. Nobody is putting their health at risk. It's more academic than sports. Like 20 geeks trying to prove who is a better programmer. Get a life and actually drive a car.

Lawsuit Shows Dell Hid Extent of Computer Flaws

drgregoryhouse Re:Please mod Trip6 to TROLL right now... (272 comments)

I agree with you that shit happens in manufacturing. I buy electronics products with my fingers crossed, always hoping they are in the "good batch".

This is a different case. Other manufacturers are reporting the same problem in 2003. However, Dell just kept on churning out 11 million PCs from 2003 to 2005.

Wow, took them 2 years to discover the problem and educate their support to cover the problem? For what? Capacitors that costs a few pennies each? In exchange for their goodwill and brand name? How much is the Dell name worth now?

Nothing to me. The capacitors still costs a few pennies each though.

It may actually cost Dell less to stop production, wait for new capacitors before continuing. Retail consumers may not care, but Dell have no integrity at all to bulk purchasers and will have to push prices further down to attract any new customers. Dell have nothing to gain in this debacle, short or long term.

The Placebo Effect Not Just On Drugs

drgregoryhouse Re:Not sure author understands meaning of "placebo (824 comments)

That will depend on how you look at it. If taking the placebo means you will still die of the disease you take the pill for, the author interpretation is valid.

The Placebo Effect Not Just On Drugs

drgregoryhouse Re:Walk buttons work... (824 comments)

Some traffic lights are handicapped friendly, ie they beep so the blind knows its ok to cross.

I live near one in an apartment block, if the button doesn't work my neighbors and I will get to hear the traffic light beep all day long.
