eht Re:Standards (282 comments)

And Google is happy to let you take your data out of them.

Want out of the Google experience? Here is all your data available to take to your new service.

I can not think of another company that offers anything remotely similar to this.

When did marriage become a basic human right? Why is the government involved pro or con with it to begin with? Why is it only limited to two people?

UAE Clerics' Fatwa Forbids Muslims From Traveling To Mars

I know you did not write that story but it was quite stupid, they had horses, which they could have killed and given the horse meat to the tiger, it was a valueless "sacrifice."

MySQL Man Pages Silently Relicensed Away From GPL

MySQL was always dual licensed, they always required copyright to be assigned to them for contributions so they could monetize it on the side.

Don't fly to Florida with that key in your pocket

http://law.onecle.com/florida/crimes/843.021.html

Could be construed as "Unlawful possession of a concealed handcuff key"

A homeless man was picked up with a handcuff key on a necklace and charged under that law.

"including, but not limited to" is pretty broad

eht Re:Captive Portals Do That You Know? (273 comments)

Hint, that is a word. From Merriam Webster

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless

"The most frequently repeated remark about it is that âoethere is no such word.â There is such a word, however."

Just because you choose to not recognize it, even though you understand perfectly what he meant by it, shows your ignorance. By the way, ain't is a word too, well a contraction at any rate.

He did indicate it was in the rain, possibly was skidding after applying the brake and honking was the only thing left to do as a warning that she was out of control.

Teacher Suspended For Reading Ender's Game To Students

eht Re:When I was in High School... (1054 comments)

The bible is one of the most pornographic and violence filled books ever.

Two of the more pornographic passages, yes the second one is incest, no it is not taken out of context in the least.

Ezekiel 23:20
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

Genesis 19:32
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

Wil Wheaton's New Show: Tabletop

eht Re:Good Fucking Luck (155 comments)

This is mostly only a problem in the US. In Essen Germany there is a yearly games trade fair/convention called Spiel that attracts over 150,000 people a year. Semi comparable conventions in the US get 14k for Origins or 37k for GenCon. Spiel is much more of a marketplace compared to people actually playing games at Gencon or Origins. Just another number to throw in, PAX attracts about 70k gamers.

Spiel is a family event and the games being marketed there are definitely not your average superstore games shelf fodder like Monopoly, Hi Ho! Cherry-O, or Jersey Shore trivia game. Though some have have gotten better about this and now carry others like Catan, Carcassonne and Race for the Galaxy.

Chrome 15 Overtakes IE 8 For Top Browser Spot

eht Re:Tree style tabs (507 comments)

Nothing bugs me more than wasted real estate on the sides.Tree view tabs, even opening a ton of sites only go down half way then it is empty space to the bottom, in addition to all the websites that have a sidebar on them, like Slashdot. I much rather run with two browsers open side by side, or a browser and anything else rather than using up 1680 wide just for a browser or even worse 1920 and this is with dual monitors as well. I also find it much easier to eat up top or bottom real estate and scroll up and down than to eat up sides and then either have to expand the browser to the full width of my monitor or scroll side to side, one of which is very wasteful and the other just doesn't flow right for me.
