FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler Says Switching ISPs Is Too Hard

fatalexe Bellsouth (145 comments)

I still access to my bellsouth.net and aol.com email address and I haven't been with AT&T or AOL for years. If an ISP holds your e-mail access contingent upon subscription then they are quite shady and something should be done.

Why Your Users Hate Agile

fatalexe Re:doesn't work (597 comments)

That video hit way too close to home. Agile gets the small projects done really fast and delivers quality code. But when the roject owner doesn't have enough time to ever bother to run through the app and the project manager gets distracted by doing web design and sys-admin stuff. Agile turns into a disaster of never ending churn of nit-picky changes without ever getting the project out into production six months later.

Hard Drive Revenue About To Take a Double-Digit Dip

fatalexe Re:optical disks still cost less then usb keys in (269 comments)

I switched to using USB drives to install the OS of a computer a long time ago. You can even keep them up to date with OS patches unlike burnt disks. Usually installs faster too.

Mixed Reception To AT&T's New Data Pricing Scheme

fatalexe Plans for multiple devices, (514 comments)

Let me split up that 2 Gigs between the devices I use. Having individual data plans for laptop, netbook, tablet, pad, phone, car and whatever else I can jam 3G into is insane. Switched away from Cingular(ATT) when the first bluetooth cell phone they had charged me hundreds of dollars in data a month. On a supposidly unlimited plan billing would drop the charges but never prevented them. Had been fine using 9600 baud tether on BellAtlantic(VZW), my data plan was the voice plan. Let me use the gigs on any network and any device and I'll pay double.

Obama's Space Plan — a Conservative Argument

fatalexe Huge mistake. (433 comments)

Without an active maned launch program I fear the United States will quickly loose our position of technical and scientific leadership. Already we have slipped to 9th in the world for science and technology education. If they money were to be invested in higher education I would be less worried but seeing as my tuition went up after North Carolina instituded a "education" lottery, well things just don't look good.
