David Cameron Says Brits Should Be Taught Imperial Measures

findoutmoretoday Re:Simple answer (505 comments)

You are right, he must have been thinking of quarts.

And that shows the greatness of imperial, there is always an unit at hand to cover the conversion error.

Interesting, is body temperature then expressed as 100 F and not something like 36.6 C ?

David Cameron Says Brits Should Be Taught Imperial Measures

findoutmoretoday Re:FP? (505 comments)

Don't worry 2x4s are just pieces of lumber that fit into a 2" by 4" hole, in metric that could be 48mm by 92mm or maybe even less. And a guy that's 6' 2" tall is probably up to 1" shorter than that. Metric is just a large amount of hard numbers.

New Research Casts Doubt On the "10,000 Hour Rule" of Expertise

findoutmoretoday Re:In my experience most mastery is at the start (184 comments)

It's odd that László Polgár tried and succeeded creating young chess masters to demonstrate the contrary "Geniuses are made, not born". And as it concerns three sisters, the twin genetics theory doesn't hold, neither the statistical gender advantage.

Interviews: David Saltzberg Answers Your Questions About The Big Bang Theory

findoutmoretoday Vitruvius (106 comments)

I read something he wrote where he followed the Vitruvius account of the Archimedes experiment. Spotting fallacious scientific preconceptions is apparently not his forte. So it's only about PR?

Text While Driving In Long Island and Have Your Phone Disabled

findoutmoretoday Re:Maybe driver vs passenger doesn't matter (364 comments)

The only time I phoned 911 (used 112) was for a car already burning bumper to bumper on a German highway, and yes I was the first to call. Maybe people would have preferred to text.

"Magic Helmet" For F-35 Ready For Delivery

findoutmoretoday Re: Watch the F-35 get blown out of the skies (184 comments)

Engage 24 enemy airfighters with what? I read "two internal bays with two pylons each". You can add exterior weapons but then the plane is even less stealth. Agile is not a problem as it is never a good flyer.

Just let your employees know you will always side with the bullies and that they should to, a good bully is a happy bully, where your business interests are of no importance.

Man Booted From Southwest Flight and Threatened With Arrest After Critical Tweet

findoutmoretoday Re:Is there an SWA Twitter police? (928 comments)

You never did but then you never read the tweets people post about you. All that yelling would probably make some people pretty certain you should be fired.

findoutmoretoday Re:String theory is not science (147 comments)

Too bad you needed words to make your point about math. Maybe English is even more science than math.

French Blogger Fined For Negative Restaurant Review

findoutmoretoday Re:Freedom of Expression... (424 comments)

There are no good old glorious times or values here, that's an American concept, no Martin Luther King day, no Alamo, ... the French revolution was started by woman begging for food, WWI by some anarchist.

New Permission System Could Make Android Much Less Secure

findoutmoretoday Re:Whew (249 comments)

Even Microsoft would have hesitated to do what Google does. You enabled GPS? This means you agree to use your data connection or do we shut the GPS off etc. And those apps will give me five days of battery or sometimes one day, so maybe Windows is not a bad idea.
