White House Punts On Petition To Allow Tesla Direct Sales

firex726 Re:He cant or wont? (382 comments)

You're confusing military action with an actual war.

The last formal declaration of war was WWII, since then everything else has been military engagements and police actions.

Chinese Vendor Could Pay $34.9M FCC Fine In Signal-Jammer Sting

firex726 Re:So how is that going to work (188 comments)

Yea, this situation is what contributed to the end of pirate radio boats off the coast of Britain.

The boats would broadcast and interfere with the emergency signals from commercial boating traffic; so when an accident happened and people needed rescue, no one could hear them over the pirate radio broadcasts.

Yahoo's Diversity Record Is Almost As Bad As Google's

firex726 Re:skill is no longer a valid factor (435 comments)

Yea, women and minorities have been handicapped throughout history; but the solution is not to single them out further and hire based on that; but to ignore their traits and go off skill, quality, and work ethic.

Microsoft Confirms Disconnecting Kinect Gives Devs 10% More GPU Horsepower

firex726 Re:Poor experience for those that do have kinect (174 comments)

Of course that would run afoul of many of the guidelines from the manufacturers. In which they expect a game to run and behave a certain way on each console generation.

Otherwise you're going to have to qualify game expectations on the specific hardware configuration of your own setup; same as happens with PC gaming.

1st Gen X model + Kinect = 20 FPS
1st Gen X model - Kinect = 30 FPS
1st Gen Y model + Kinect = 24 FPS
1st Gen Y model - Kinect = 32 FPS

Comcast-Time Warner Deal May Hinge On Low-Cost Internet Plan

firex726 Re:Actually there is a name for this behavior (114 comments)

It's $10/mth, and you have to have a child eligible for free/reduced cost meals, and not have had Comcast service for 90 days. So if you dont take advantage right away, you'll have to cut off service for three months to become eligible.

Misogyny, Entitlement, and Nerds

firex726 Re:forever actually (1198 comments)

Seems like they can really only point t incidents of where a defense attorney calls into question the charecter of the accuser. Rest of the time, it's the result of a one off idiot who usually gets fired or seriously reprimanded for their comments.

Nintendo To Split Ad Revenue With Streaming Gamers

firex726 Re:Sorry, but no. (110 comments)

Also, commentary. Most of the time, the game being played is not what draws me in, but the commentary and comedy that the producer adds to it.

Blizzard Sues Starcraft II Cheat Creators

firex726 Re: Blizzard Shizzard (252 comments)

Exactly, cheating should be handed in-house, not through the legal system. They designed a poor system and are just trying to sue people away from exploiting it then fixing it like every other major multiplayer game.

You'd be right, there was a time when a lens flare required a reshoot and could get people fired.

U.S. Passenger Jet Nearly Collided With Drone In March

firex726 Re:Implicit ownership of the air? (151 comments)

Planes can't just stop, and with RC aircraft becoming bigger and bigger they can cause serious damage of a liner if they get sucked into an engine. It's why pretty much every responsible club has strict rules on where they can hold flights; one of the biggest being not anywhere near an airport.

Just like with cars, the users are the ones responsible for their craft; a pilot wouldn't be able to see an RC craft, and if he did it'd be too late.

U.S. Passenger Jet Nearly Collided With Drone In March

firex726 Re:there should be liability requirements for comm (151 comments)

Most RC enthusiasts know not to fly such a craft anywhere near an airport. General rule of thumb is 1000ft of clearance in each direction.

U.S. Passenger Jet Nearly Collided With Drone In March

firex726 Re:Drone? (151 comments)

The device though is not a trivial purpose ($270) and largely unnecessary save for highly specialized uses. A DX6i which is pretty entry level, has a range of around 600m-1200m depending on conditions and RX. That type of system is not going in your average quadcopter, but rather very expensive and specially made Oct/jet planes.

L.A. Science Teacher Suspended Over Student Science Fair Projects

firex726 Re:Sick Society (253 comments)

Not just opinions, but pay rate too.

As we've seen on new teachers who enter the workforce, schools will mass fire the teachers after the year then re-hire them before the next at reduced pay. Or fire one experienced and well paid one for two that just graduated.

General Mills Retracts "No Right to Sue" EULA Clause

firex726 Re:I'm curious.... (88 comments)

Technically the user would not even have to visit the website. They would visit Facebook, which GM has no connection to aside from voluntarily posting a public page there, and then GM would say the user is now bound by an agreement on a totally other site.

Netflix Gets What It Pays For: Comcast Streaming Speeds Skyrocket

firex726 Re:I Pay (328 comments)

Netflix also offered to set up their server inside the Comcast DC's, that way there would be no peering, it'd be on the Comcast network all the time. Comcast declined.
