VirtualBox Development At a Standstill

gnordli Steady progress and under the hood improvements (277 comments)

4.3 brought major changes in the vt-x code for stability and performance improvements.

You should look at the change log and source code commits.

It wouldn't surprise me if 4.4 gets released soon with a new batch of improvements. 4.3 will then get put into maintenance mode and 4.4 because "unstable". I normally don't deploy the current branch in production for several releases as they fix the issues.

Project development is far from a standstill. I don't need any more flashly features. I hope they continue to focus on stability and performance issues.

Corning Reveals Gorilla Glass 4, Promises No More Broken IPhones

gnordli Samsung Galaxy S5 glass quality is awful (203 comments)

I dropped my Galaxy S5 out of my hand when walking and it completely smashed the glass. I am shocked how fragile the new phone was compared to my older Nexus S. I am on the hook for a $250+ bill to get it repaired.

I have no clue how you can engineer a mobile phone which can't withstand a drop from that distance. I will never buy another Samsung product again.

Is Remote Instruction the Future of College?

gnordli Re:It's the interaction, stupid! (81 comments)

When I read the artlicle the biggest change I see there is how they use fear to increase interaction. Students are expected to write their answers to questions which everyone can see. Students can also be called on to expand on their thoughts. There is no hiding in this type of setup.

If you live in Canada then visit oabooks.com They are in Edmonton Alberta, you get 20% off cover price, and you don't pay Provincial sales tax.
