Hell they're more respected than Fox News...

Well they're not afraid to print the truth! They're second only to Al Jazeera.. or the New Yorker.. I always get those two mixed up

Iris-Scan ID Cards For Children In Mexico

gringofrijolero Re:Alledged? sigh. /. slowly becoming a crank site (114 comments)

Because for about $100 cash I can bribe an official...

That was maybe 30 years ago. You need between 5 and 10 thousand now.. if you want a professional.. But hell, you can buy an American with that kind of money, and get better service..

Government is corrupt no matter where you are. Politicians are bought and sold like trinkets at the bizarre. The Mexicans just happened to be on the wrong end of the big stick. I hear they want to start locking you up for downloading movies and music.. Justice at its best, it seems

Mexico is a sovereign nation.

Unfortunately no. There's no such thing. A funny thing happened on 9/11.. Pretty effective deterrent against subversive activity, don't you think?

Deeper in the rabbit hole you go. And that list is very incomplete. Now, feel free to play your numbers game. It will be duly noted. Oh, and let's see what happens if you put up even the tiniest bit of resistance, no matter how justified.

It's your broken culture that produces the violence seen here. Sure, we have some problems with violence, but nothing remotely like what's seen there.

*cough* Yeah, we know. You've off shored that too.

I don't believe I've ever seen anybody so swallowed up in the media trap. You are so high on the blue pill you literally don't see beyond your own skin. One thing you do show, your politicians are made in your image... Thank you for a most educational perspective. Pero huele muy feo el pedorro

Your culture worships violence, crime.. your people are more violent than just about any on earth, and you should be isolated and left to your own devices.

Coming from an American... That's... interesting...

Ah really? Another arrogant know nothing..

FTFL:
In May 2006, then-President Vicente Fox, of the same right-wing party as Calderon, vetoed a similar bill that he initially had supported. He backed down only under pressure from the Bush administration, which complained that decriminalization for even small amounts could increase use.

We had to "sneak" it through this time to keep you people off our backs. So please, accept responsibility for the people you elect to high office. In other words, curb your dog. And put a muzzle on it..

I don't know where you think you would find your little law and order utopia, but it sure isn't here. Kidnapping (and the drug war) is a problem due to official corruption, not for lack of tagging our kids like cattle..

Outsider meddling in our domestic politics doesn't help matters any either

Giant Lab Replicates Category 3 Hurricanes

gringofrijolero What a waste (97 comments)

There's no reason for a hurricane to be anything more than a public nuisance. I lived under Wilma for a whole 48 hours (just leaving five years ago tonight as a matter of fact), and Emily only a few months before that. How did we prepare? Bought lots of beer (before they cut off liquor sales a full 36 hours before it hit, the bastards!), tied down the water tank on the roof and pruned a few trees (one still fell over anyway), probably didn't need to board up the windows. Power was back on in the center of town within 12 hours. Phones (land lines, cell phones worked right away) were another story, took a month. Most of our houses are concrete block with reinforced columns in the corners. More than sufficient to withstand a cat5. You don't need a study to figure that out. A note to you all up in New Orleans, it helps to build above sea level. But let's have a study to be sure. You are creating a bureaucratic paradise up there, but you still have some catching up to do :-)

I can tell you that hurricanes sound really cool.

"Cumulative Voting" Method Gaining Attention

gringofrijolero Re:The Illinois experience (375 comments)

All you know about her, or any of these people is what you see on the TV. Calling anybody an idiot based on such filtered information is ludicrous. She's playing a role, and considering her Q rating, she doesn't seem to be doing too badly. Your bandwagon is no different than the conservatives'.

Guilty!

gringofrijolero gringofrijolero writes  |  more than 5 years ago

gringofrijolero (1489395) writes "A federal jury in Minneapolis has ruled a Minnesota woman violated several music copyrights in the nation's only file-sharing case to go to trial.

The jury found that Jammie Thomas-Rasset "committed willful violation" of the copyrights on 24 songs. The jury awarded the recording companies $1.92 million, or $80,000 per song.

I have nothing more to say on this. Fight it out amongst yourselves. Sorry NYCL...Evidently economic interests will trump individual rights for some time to come."

Mexico to register cell phones

gringofrijolero gringofrijolero writes  |  more than 5 years ago

gringofrijolero (1489395) writes ""Starting this Friday, the telephone companies concessionaires must carry out a separate registration and control of its users. In this way, the new mobile user who acquires a cell need to provide their full name, proof of residence, nationality and their fingerprint.

The above, to form the National Register of mobile phone users, which will reduce the commission of crimes via cell phone as extortion, threats, kidnapping, or any of its forms or of any felony related to organized crime.

For their part, more than 70 million users who already enjoy this service, they will have one year to comply with registration and control."

These stories have been going around for a while now. The new twist I see is the fingerprinting. I don't know how much longer it will be before you folks north of the Rio Grande will be doing the same thing, but it appears inevitable. We can expect a sharp rise in cell phone thefts, and lots of false accusations because of this, and our lawyers aren't exactly what you could call "effective"."

H.R. 2346

gringofrijolero gringofrijolero writes  |  more than 5 years ago

There goes another 106 bil. Eh, whatever. I do find the republicans sudden distaste for (some)pork somewhat amusing. Of course it should be obvious that about 80% of the money goes to the biggest pork barrel of them all. Note it's not called the "war" anymore. Now it's the "troops". Ain't that sweet. The tunnel looks as dark as it ever has. But hey! Not a bear in sight...

Well, I'm not President Bush

gringofrijolero gringofrijolero writes  |  more than 5 years ago

That certainly remains to be seen, considering all the money you're doling out to Wall Street... Anyway...

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton dismissed on Friday arguments that Israel and the Bush administration had an understanding under which Israel could keep expanding Jewish settlements on the West Bank.

Nice show they're putting on, but how far it goes is anybody's guess.
