Former Second Largest Linux Distributor Red Flag Software Has Shut Down

gtirloni Lots of unpatched systems (92 comments)

Peng noted that, during its hey days, Red Flag had enjoyed high adoption among government agencies, state-owned organizations, and schools.

Lots and lots of unpatched servers waiting to be exploited from now on (unless they migrate to a supported platform).

Adobe Flash Remote Code Execution Flaw Exploited In the Wild

gtirloni Re:Not much longer? (187 comments)

Could you provide some URLs to videos that fail in HTML5 on the desktop, but load fine on iOS?

What is this strategy accomplishing?

Adobe Flash Remote Code Execution Flaw Exploited In the Wild

gtirloni Re:Not much longer? (187 comments)

While I totally agree, I was trying to be more pragmatic. I couldn't care less if a video I try to watch won't play in the HTML5 version (I will simply not watch it).. and I sincerely hope Zynga burns in hell. But all the other average users out there will keep depending on Flash while those companies don't offer HTML5 versions.

Geez, have to explain everything here :)

Look at IE6 declining curve... Flash will probably be worse than that.

A lot of Youtube content is not available in HTML5 yet. Plus, all the famous Zynga games use Flash.

Steve Ballmer Replaces Don Mattrick As Xbox One Chief

gtirloni Re:How bad is MS (343 comments)

Good point. The fact that he is leaving doesn't surprise me. The fact that he accept a job at Zynga instead of staying at home sure sounds crazy.

gtirloni Re: Surpassing Vista (285 comments)

You do realize Win8 has a desktop environment and your Win7 apps will work just fine, don't you? Geez, I can't understand how much this crap gets mentioned over and over here.

Employers Switching From Payroll Checks To Prepaid Cards With Fees

gtirloni Re:How is this legal? (1103 comments)

So unions should sell their services as insurance for the status quo basically? Looks a plausible strategy since they rarely help improve anything.

Facebook Shares Retreat Below IPO Price

gtirloni gtirloni writes  |  more than 2 years ago

gtirloni (1531285) writes "Just days after wrapping up the biggest initial public offering in Silicon Valley history, shares of Facebook slumped 6% and tumbled below their issue price on Monday, a troubling signal for the newly-public social network. Facebook broke below its $38-a-share issue IPO price in the wake of a highly-anticipated offering that raised more than $16 billion, the second-largest domestic IPO after Visa’s 2008 debut. Shares of Facebook were recently off 6.44% to $35.72."
