Ask Slashdot: Which Encrypted Cloud Storage Provider?

ionix5891 filecloud (200 comments)

Try filecloud.io they are an Irish company with servers in Amsterdam

free accounts come with up to 1000GB free storage (reduced redundancy sort of like amazon) and more if you pay 6.99$ / month (29.99/6 months) that comes with raided storage

you can encrypt files yourself before uploading whichever method you want

they have previously went to courts and got advice from Irish Data Protection commissioner that if any 3rd party wants your data they have to get an Irish court order.

ionix5891 Re:They're just used as a transaction mechanism (600 comments)

Except one can not buy bitcoins with a credit card or paypal,
1. because these companies hate bitcoin and what it represents for them
2. because of a high chargeback risk no one who doesnt trust you would sell you bitcoins for paypal

Irish ISP Wins Major Legal Victory Against Record Companies

ionix5891 Re:RTFA: Not a major victory -- not a victory at a (96 comments)

You are correct, the spokesman on the radio (here in Ireland) was blabbing on about them putting pressure on the government now via lobbying.
government who in all honesty have better things to be worrying about such as getting the country of out the deepening depression we are still in (and one that they helped get us into!)

Irish Gov't Invests In Color-Coded Fiber Optics

ionix5891 im Irish (129 comments)

and quite happy about this

but people here (mostly USasians :D) need to know that Ireland had the most expensive bank bailout in world per head of population, almost 10x your mess
and probably the most incompetent and corrupt government in western world, who are now running a deficit of 20% of GDP which would make the Greeks look good

and we will be paying for this for many generations :(

this is a coloured lining on a gray cloud :(

Large Irish ISP To Enact "Three Strikes" Rule For Copyright Violation

ionix5891 Re:Not quite (288 comments)

I'm from Ireland

unfortunately Eircom (ex state owned Telecom Eireann)

own almost all of the coper/phone network in country

outside the big cities (where you can get cable with UPC) the choice boils down (assuming your close enough to exchange...) to Eircom or wireless

thats if your lucky enough to have either, since most of the country is very sparsely populated

i am moving to the countryside soon, so i wont have much choice...

Airbus to deliver first China-made airplane

ionix5891 ionix5891 writes  |  more than 5 years ago

ionix5891 (1228718) writes "European aviation giant Airbus is set to deliver the first A320 airplane assembled at its factory in China, in a symbolic event further marking the nation's global rise.

Ten middle-distance A319/320 aircraft will be delivered by the end of the year, before the factory starts to churn out up to four planes a month before the end of 2011. The Tianjin plant, modelled on Airbus' factory in Hamburg, Germany, has an investment of nearly 10 billion yuan (1.47 billion dollar) and went into operation in September in the presence of Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.

I sure do hope these things are safe! Lets not forget how reliable communist Russia's TU154s where ;)"
