Interview: Ask Theo de Raadt What You Will

jazman_777 NSA Involvement (290 comments)

Given the pervasive nature of NSA compromising, do you know of any attempts by the NSA to put in backdoors or otherwise compromise OpenBSD--either by approaching you directly, or by infiltration?

Former Dev Gives Gloomy Outlook On Linux Support For the Opera Browser

jazman_777 Re:Another webkit is irrelevent (181 comments)

Not at the moment. They continue to use Presto in Opera Mini and in embedded, so they don't want to open source it, no explicit reason beyond that given. (I read this at the http://blogs.opera.com/desktop site in the comments to one of the posts, can't find it...)

Former Dev Gives Gloomy Outlook On Linux Support For the Opera Browser

jazman_777 For Those Who Forgot about Opera (181 comments)

Opera users typically were hardcore about it, and would only let go when you pried their cold dead hand away from it. I've been a longtime Opera user...the new version is derisively called "Chropera" and I've dumped it. It's just bad, so many of the things that made Opera are gone, so why use this Chropera? It didn't even have a bookmark manager, just that stupid Speed Dial. And then there is the general evasiveness of the devs, especially about a Linux version. So if you've forgotten about it, consider it a mercy. For those of us who loved using Opera, it's very painful.

Zynga Puts Random Stranger In Customer Support Role

jazman_777 Re:My Oma did this too (158 comments)

My work mobile phone happens to be the same number as a restaurant, except a different (nearby) area code. So I get a couple of calls a week. I've gotten calls from the state department of revenue, too. Someone keeps trying over and over, and just can't figure out the area code thing.

Just another USG subversion campaign. If you don't bend the knee to the USG-led globalist finance system, you are targeted. I wonder what color of Soros-funded "revolution" is coming soon to Iran?

Opera Releases Its First Chromium-Based Browser

jazman_777 Re:R.I.P. (191 comments)

Trying Chrome. It's OK, as good as Firefox at least for me. I'll stick with it for a while to see if I can deal with it long term.

Opera Releases Its First Chromium-Based Browser

jazman_777 Re:R.I.P. (191 comments)

When I tried Chrome, I just didn't like it. I hated the bookmarks management. I like the customizability of the interface of Opera, so Chrome (and FF as it imitates Chrome) really chapped my butt. I had been a sorta-Firefox user (for sites that Opera choked on) and the rest of the family was using Firefox. But then FF went spasdic with its updates and breaking addons, and I just moved everyone to Opera, mostly. But I might take a look at Chrome again.

Opera Releases Its First Chromium-Based Browser

jazman_777 R.I.P. (191 comments)

Just a flimsy skin on WebKit now. Starting from scratch they have a long long way to go to get to current Opera feature state. And the new Android version is a dead shadow of its former self. I'm now trying to get used to Firefox.

Florida DOT Cuts Yellow Light Delay Ignoring Federal Guidelines, Citations Soar

jazman_777 Re:Short yellow lights are a safety hazard (507 comments)

This whole incident leaves a bad taste, it appears to be open and unchecked corruption on the part of municipal governments. The kind of thing I expect in a banana republic, not America.

"America" and "banana republic" are one and the same now.

Smartphones Driving Violent Crime Across US

jazman_777 Naivete, Stupidity, Etc. (204 comments)

It's obvious that people feel that they don't need to be alert to their surroundings. That is madness. This crime wave is basically the result of people making themselves easy targets. I know our world may shriek "blaming the victim", but you really ought to be on guard, it's your responsibility, it's your stuff, it's your life.
