What Features Does iOS 7 Need?

jlebrech Features (262 comments)

A VR desktop, something like oculus rift and leap motion combined. It also needs to display the keyboard in the virtual world and show where the fingers are.

Also the UX needs to be in 3D, so to operate a slider you have to move your hand forward for example, windows should be replaced with cubes, with the controls to maximize, minimize, force quit on the outside of the cube and the app is contained inside of that cube, the interface should look a bit like what tony stark sees in his ironman suit. The interface could obviously be designed to only be see from a single perspective, but if a control is on the z-axis it has to be operated on that axis be the user.

Why Self-Driving Cars Are Still a Long Way Down the Road

jlebrech North Korea (352 comments)

Isn't this "it has to be 100% safe, before we want to allow it" attitude just force Google to go to dictatorial states and offer to use them as guinea pigs, they won't care if there's a 1% chance of accident, and google could trade that tech for precious resources.

jlebrech Binary (290 comments)

Isn't it time for a binary web standard anyways, the creation of a universal bytecode for the web would enable programmers to have the power to either build with or without drm, but would also deliver much more power.

Silicon Nanoparticles Could Lead To On-Demand Hydrogen Generation

jlebrech Re:The key question becomes (163 comments)

The amount of energy required doesn't matter as long as it's made with clean energy and it's energy density is large enough.

You could then make nano particles in the Gobi desert with a solar station or with a LFTR nuclear reactor in china or india, or even create those in space.

Real Life Super Hero Arrested

So it's better to be a Punisher type of hero. one who waits for the outcome of a fight. When the fight is over then the hero comes down hard on them.

In real life the ideal superhero is someone who nobody sees and who nobody can press charges against.

If nobody knew his real identity, he could have just escaped the police.

Isometric Game Engine

jlebrech jlebrech writes  |  more than 5 years ago

jlebrech writes "I'm am writing an isometric game using JQuery and Google App Engine, not that I've written the basic game engine I am looking for suggestions for graphics or features.

My currently idea would be to start the game out with cavemen and a tech tree that cavemen can use, the expand the game chronologically.

I'm thinking of RPG features such as xp, stats, inventories. RTS features such as Tech Trees and resources.

What I do need is a isometric spriteset that i could use, ideally unique for my game, but ripped image for development use only would be good as I will be planning on it being themeable wherby people could have theme sites for creating different looks and feels.

I think the current code base could even be forked for a space exploration game.

What do you guys think?"

jlebrech jlebrech writes  |  more than 7 years ago

jlebrech (810586) writes "What do you guys think of the Carbon Neutral cars cropping up, the Tesla and the Venturi Fetish amongst the biodiesel and hydrogen cars.

I like the idea of those electric sports cars, they can make someone with the money to buy a Carrera GT or Ferrari proud that he's helping to save the planet.

But one obstacle would be traffic jams and speeding fines which they can still be liable to, this is where i propose that the end lanes on the motorways to be Green only and that speed restrictions not apply (just an 8 second gap) as the tesla and the venturi can both go to 130mph, and because all the other prestige car manufacturers need a push (like Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini) so as to make them design fast electric cars, for the rich to give themselves a feeling of saviors of the environment, which would compel them to buy such cars. Aswell as being able to access the FAST lane and not worry about cops.

Anyway I think the gap between cars should be compulsory and not the speed (on board computer can easily calculate the time gap) as you can crash your car going 40 on the motorway if you're not careful, and a distance device on a car would be better than a speedo.

I think the speed laws are outdated, a gap between cars law should apply instead. Because I often drive legally, with some moron up my arse, and that needs to change.

If I could Legally drive at 100mph but with some gps assisted distance calculator (althought big brother-esque) I would welcome an 8 second gap.

What do you guys think?
