Comparison: Linux Text Editors

kjhambrick None of the Above are Much Good with ssh Sessions (402 comments)

All --

None of the Gooey Editors mentioned are much good on remote terminal sessions.

Learn the basics for vi and you'll always be able to fix a remote host via a text-only console session,

Second place goes to emacs in my list because it's not available by default on all flavors of *NIX.

Otherwise, JED, JOE, NANO, PICO, etc are out there for the taking.

Geothermal Heat Contributing To West Antarctic Ice Sheet Melting

kjhambrick Re:Queue the deniers (387 comments)

Sheesh !

It wasn't that long ago in the bigger scheme of things when it was 'settled' that the cosmos revolved around the earth !

Or that EM Radiation was conducted via the aether.

Consensus is not science.

There are too many fortunes of too many types at stake to take any of the AGW debate at face value.

The existence and degree of influence of AGW on Climate Change is NOT settled.

ICE License-Plate Tracking Plan Withdrawn Amid Outcry About Privacy

kjhambrick I call Bullshit (152 comments)

'The solicitation, which was posted without the awareness of ICE leadership, has been canceled,' said spokeswoman Gillian Christensen.

Like anyone would truly believe an underling could solicit such a bid without direction from the ICE leadership.

The bastards are out of control.

Munich Open Source Switch 'Completed Successfully'

kjhambrick Re:Congratulations! (275 comments)

Let's not forget this: had they stayed with Microsoft Products, they would never be 'done' because of the planned obsolescence of the MS Product Line ( think: WinXP and April, 2014 ).

Now that the migration is complete, Munich will be free to plan their own future.
