Supreme Court Upholds Michigan's Ban On Affirmative Action In College Admissions

litehacksaur111 Re: Not really needed anymore. (374 comments)

I would bet that 90% of legacy admissions are for wealthy people like 4th generation Yale students who go yachting every weekend. 85% of african american students are 1st generation college students, so your point is invalid. And furthermore I don't understand how you can be against affirmative action but for legacy admissions. For the record, I am against both. But if you are against one and not the other than you are a hypocrite.

Skilled Manual Labor Critical To US STEM Dominance

litehacksaur111 Re:Mike Rowe (351 comments)

I once again ask where are all these openings for skilled professions. We have spent the past 20 years demeaning these professions. It seems that everyone on slashdot thinks that all welding/manual labor jobs are the same. This is a bit how management views all tech workers as the same. It is just code right??? The irony here is very strong. The same people bitching about how there is no shortage in IT are now claiming there is a shortage of manual labor jobs without knowing anything about them.

Supreme Court Upholds Michigan's Ban On Affirmative Action In College Admissions

litehacksaur111 Re:Not really needed anymore. (374 comments)

I agree with this and think the court did not go far enough. We should get rid of legacy admissions and just make it so that when applying all the school can see are the grades, test scores, and extra cirrcular activities. No information such as name, gender, race, socioeconomic status, etc should be provided.

Skilled Manual Labor Critical To US STEM Dominance

litehacksaur111 Re:Welders make 150k??? (351 comments)

Ok. I can say that professional baseball players make $20 million dollars. I think you are choosing the most elite of a profession and trying to use that as an average for the common entry level person. I stand by my comment that maybe 5% of welders are making 150k. The rest are not making anywhere near close.

Supreme Court Upholds Michigan's Ban On Affirmative Action In College Admissions

litehacksaur111 Re:well.. hold on (374 comments)

I agree with this decision and I think the supreme court should ban "legacy admissions" as well. I think college admissions should be done by creating a serial number for each student. The admissions officer should not be able to look at name, race, gender, etc and only look at grades, test scores, and extra cirricular activities.

litehacksaur111 Welders make 150k??? (351 comments)

Where the hell are welders making 150k??? Probably like 5% of welders make that much. Most of the manual labor jobs (electrician, plumber, HVAC) make like 60k with 10 years of experience. New people start around 30k.

Oklahoma Moves To Discourage Solar and Wind Power

litehacksaur111 Re:not a significant connection fee. If it were .. (452 comments)

Here in phoenix the plan I have with SRP charges me a $30 flat connection fee every month. $30 should be enough to cover line maintainance.

Oklahoma Moves To Discourage Solar and Wind Power

litehacksaur111 Re:did you read the post you replied to? Wrong pos (452 comments)

The utilities already charge a flat baseline connection fee. That should take care of all infrastructure and grid maintainance. If you want it your way then I say get rid of the flat connection fee.

Oklahoma Moves To Discourage Solar and Wind Power

litehacksaur111 Re:want to figure it out BEFORE most customers pay (452 comments)

Peak demand usually occurs between 11:00 and 2:00 pm. There is plenty of sunshine on rooftops at those times, so the panels are in fact generating power.

Oklahoma Moves To Discourage Solar and Wind Power

litehacksaur111 Re:want to figure it out BEFORE most customers pay (452 comments)

What the hell are you talking about. Any engineer will tell you that generating power at peak demand is much more expensive on the plant than at other times. So even though the customer is being billed zero, the utility still gains. Of course the utilities are greedy bastards so they go to the government for more money that they somehow feel they are entitled to. You see the utilities are the real welfare queens here.

L.A. Science Teacher Suspended Over Student Science Fair Projects

litehacksaur111 Re:Sick Society (250 comments)

This is exactly what is wrong with the schools here. Stupid administrators making decisions on what should and should not be taught in the classroom and disciplining teachers for actually inspiring their students to think and build things. All administrators want nowadays are kids who are only capable of mindlessly following a given set of instructions.

Oracle Deflects Blame For Troubled Oregon Health Care Site

litehacksaur111 Re:Never bring politics... (162 comments)

Oracle does this on nearly every project they work on. Same with IBM, TCS, Wipro, etc. All of those H1B visa abusing companies will never deliver on what they say and instead will fight the meaning of every word in the contract.

Student Records Kids Who Bully Him, Then Gets Threatened With Wiretapping Charge

litehacksaur111 Re:you want school shootings? (797 comments)

Exactly. All the stupid gun regulations in the world will not help because schools are unable to discipline the people causing problems and are unable to offer any recourse for victims

litehacksaur111 Re:WTF?? (797 comments)

The kid would be bullied even more if his mom got involved. The teacher should have taken action and she did not. This IS a COMPLETE FAILURE BY THE SCHOOL

Netflix Gets What It Pays For: Comcast Streaming Speeds Skyrocket

litehacksaur111 Re:No... (327 comments)

The ONLY way to stop this shit is to label all ISP as common carriers. This is the most important issue of our time because if the ISP's knock down net neutrality they can easily force us into PIPA and SOPA.

Double Take: Condoleezza Rice As Dropbox's Newest Board Member

litehacksaur111 Re:Force her out! (313 comments)

That's right. I don't use dropbox and never will as long as they have ANYONE on their board who supports the NSA. I am against the NSA, TSA, patriot act, and I think those issues are where I share ground with intelligent conservatives.
