Dell Aims for Gamers with XPS M1710

metricmusic Australia? (265 comments)

I've heard plenty of rave reviews on the XPS range, from reviewers and personal users alike, but what I want to know is, when will Dell bring the XPS range out in Australia.

I have their 389.20 SC model coupled with their 24" monitor for a media machine in the lounge but the built in video is awful. I modified a pci card to suitbut if I could get my paws on the XPS that would be so much better.

I don't think shopthestates for such a thing is appropriate. :(

ps2 - toy story graphics, or not?

metricmusic metricmusic writes  |  more than 9 years ago

Can anyone direct me to a reputable site that has the actual quote said by a sony rep the playstation 2 could do toy story graphics?

The closest thing I can find on a reputable site is on ign (no jokes please) and it says
"analysts hinted at "Toy Story"-caliber graphics for the console,"

but thats far from sony saying it.

I ask because I came across this and wondered if maybe people got things confused.

Mocking people who like to mod, is like mocking people who like do-it-yourself interior decorating.

conime.exe is NOT always a trojan.

metricmusic metricmusic writes  |  more than 9 years ago

posting this because people like myself use google to find whats spyware and whats not. The first hit on google incorrectly reports conime.exe is spyware. That is only half true so I am posting this here there and everywhere. The file "conime.exe" is NOT necessarily spyware. It could also be microsoft console ime (input method editor), which is used for entering foreign characters.
if you have foreign language support in XP then the file could be from that. If not then you can nuke the file with no dire consequences.

of course, if you nuke it by accident and need it back again, go to language setting in control panel and choose the foreign language again. Xp will ask for the cd to copy the file again when you click ok.

Your Rights Online

metricmusic metricmusic writes  |  more than 9 years ago

This comes up a lot in YRO topics. The question is how do we interpret Your Rights Online?

        * as - Your Rights Online
About your rights in the online world - privacy, drm, spam etc
        * as - Your Rights Online
Discussing your rights in an online discussion group (slashdot)

Personally, I sort of see it as the second one... its a place for discussing people's rights, not just their rights in the "online" world but all of our rights.
