Euro Bank Santander Commissions Study On Bitcoin's Impact On Banking

mjwalshe Re:On Banco Santander reports (36 comments)

yes my local A&L went down hill badly after the take over! Though to be fair they have improved a lot in the last 18 months or so - so much so that I didn't move all my accounts

Euro Bank Santander Commissions Study On Bitcoin's Impact On Banking

mjwalshe Re:On Banco Santander reports (36 comments)

Some one told me that the reason Santander are so big in Spain was that the owners where very close with Franco and the regime and Spain did not issue any new banking licences for decades

mjwalshe Re:stealing identity (73 comments)

This actually happened at a company I worked at corrupt insiders allowed a hit man to track down the parents of a criminal who where then both killed - I believe the insiders got done for conspiracy and are serving a long prison sentence.

mjwalshe Re:You cannot be surprised? (129 comments)

I actually found that doing my CCNA at one the physical cisco academy's very usefully having 20 routers and switches to play with makes the course so much easier. I even went in on my day off and did some additional experiments to get to the bottom of some OSFP strangeness. And to pass you have to be able to fix a real broken network

How Does Tesla Build a Supercharger Charging Site?

mjwalshe Re:Building times (190 comments)

Seeing the tesla version of the lotus doing the same course as its donor car its was blindingly obvious that the extra weight made the tesla handle like a pig - most ./ users haven't done any mech engineering so me talking about inertia moments and so on wouldn't have made much sense.

How Does Tesla Build a Supercharger Charging Site?

mjwalshe Re:That's not quick? (190 comments)

yes I thought that a high speed charger would also need to hook up the car to a cooling loop so that you didn't blow the battery pack up

err did you see the side by side comparison Top Gear did of an original tesla vs the donor car the handling difference due to increased mass was very obvious.

I suspect the main constraint is how long the process of providing HVAC power from the power company takes

Only up to a point if you have seen some of the stuff that employers get away with in India you would not be surprised they want to run a way - also not having property stolen by AK toting gangsters is a plus as happened to a college of mines family back in India - or if your a Muslim or a low caste person American even on h1b term seems like the promised land

Would Scottish Independence Mean the End of UK's Nuclear Arsenal?

mjwalshe Re:Nope (375 comments)

A huge amount relative to the total in Scotland I sat in on a debate recently in Glasgow and its a major issue for all the civil service - Scotland doesn't have a lot of high paying middle class technical jobs and there is a risk that a lot would be repatriated back to the UK after devolution,
