NFL Players To Use Tablet Computers During Games

mwn3d NHL has used them for years (107 comments)

You'll see coaches drawing up plays on them, players watching replays on them, even when they're not using them you can see them tucked away in a pocket on the bench showing the live broadcast. Not sure why the NFL has to be stuck with still pictures. I'm also not sure why the NFL has to use tablets to show those pictures when they could just print the HD color pictures. And doesn't $400M seem like a bit much? Ramble ramble ramble ramble....

mwn3d "Contribute usage data" option (191 comments)

If you go into the settings of the keyboard (a few levels down from "language and input" on Android) there is an option to contribute usage data. I bet if you turn that off it'll stop.

I read a few more words and it says "Internet draft" next to it. In any case someone has already come up with the general idea even if it isn't officially accepted.

According to the Wikipedia article on HTTP status codes 451 already exists for exactly this reason. This doesn't seem new.

PC Sales See 'Longest Decline' In History

mwn3d custom PCs? (385 comments)

does this take into account people buying parts of PCs and assembling them themselves? i feel like it's gotten easier to just upgrade one or two parts rather than the whole computer now too.

Ask Slashdot: Does LED Backlight PWM Drive You Crazy?

mwn3d No problems here (532 comments)

I recently switched to an LED monitor. It can only refresh at 60 Hz (or 59Hz but who does that?). I haven't noticed any flickering or had any headaches. I have noticed less power consumption and less heat coming from my display so I think you're just gonna have to deal with it. The benefits of LED displays will outweigh stuff like this forever. You won't be changing the industry.
