The Best Gaming PC Money Can Buy

nizcolas Site is slashdotted (360 comments)

But I was able to see a couple of pages before it went down. Did anyone notice the links to other stories at the bottom? I'm pretty interested in seeing which are the top 10 games to play while stoned.

Exchanging Pictures To Generate Passwords

nizcolas Re:Oh Dear (123 comments)

I imagine most people would resort to going online for an image of genitals. I'd be willing to be a lot of users would have the first image that google returns as a search for: genitals, penis, vagina, etc

New CyberSecurity Bill Raises Questions of Privacy

nizcolas nizcolas writes  |  more than 5 years ago

Nicolas Dawson (597301) writes "Steve Aquino of MotherJones asks: "Should President Obama have the power to shut down domestic Internet traffic during a state of emergency?"

A controversial new bill called The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 would give the president, "...the ability to 'declare a cybersecurity emergency' and shut down or limit Internet traffic in any 'critical' information network 'in the interest of national security.' The bill does not define a critical information network or a cybersecurity emergency. That definition would be left to the president."

Responses from several professional groups, including the EFF are included in the article."

Oklahoma State Lawmakers Silence Darwinian Speaker

nizcolas nizcolas writes  |  more than 5 years ago

nizcolas (597301) writes "Notable evolutionary biologist, author and speaker Richard Dawkins, was recently invited to speak on the campus of the University of Oklahoma as part of the school's celebration of Charles Darwin. However, Oklahoma lawmakers are working to silence Dawkins with the passage of House Bill 1015 which reads in part: "...the University of Oklahoma, [...] has invited as a public speaker on campus, Richard Dawkins of Oxford University, whose published opinions, as represented in his 2006 book "The God Delusion", and public statements on the theory of evolution demonstrate an intolerance for cultural diversity and diversity of thinking and are views that are not shared and are not representative of the thinking of a majority of the citizens of Oklahoma..."
Pending legal action, Dawkins is set to speak tonight at 7 p.m."

Best uses for idle projector

nizcolas nizcolas writes  |  more than 5 years ago

cat.dollar (597301) writes "I've recently acquired a nice midrange lcd projector. (Benq w500) While I've enjoyed watching videos and gaming over the 720p resolution, I think I'm ready for something more. What do other slashdotters use their projectors for? I'm looking for something along the lines of live data visualizations, cool fractal programs, or perhaps a large-scale interactive video environment. (a-la eye toy or massive video conferencing) My current favorites are the digg labs visualizer, and milkdrop2 with the bltc pack, but anything visually impressive + nerdy is an option."

Funny things I had forgotten

nizcolas nizcolas writes  |  more than 11 years ago

One time I had this clock around my neck and I went into my friends room. The alarm on the clock went off and everyone laughed. I said "time to kick it" If it weren't 3 am I could make this sound a lot more interesting :)
