Or maybe the majority of people just don't care about their privacy as much as YOU'D like them to, they're more concerned with the ease and convenience of a service, knowing full well that the cost of using same is access to the data they generate. No one's forcing anyone to sign up for any google service.

Their signals are still penetrating your space. So technically they are in range, but you have no way to detect them.

Detection ability non-existent, so number of AP's in range is unknown.

How do you know for a fact that signals are penetrating his space? You simply assumed they are. Nowhere is there any evidence to support your claim. Range zero, so no APs in range.
