Groklaw — Don't Go Home, Go Big

popsicle67 Re:No thanks (230 comments)

Not all sides of a debate are equal. I have no problem with her deleting posts, I imagine most are just trolls looking for food and nobody needs to read that. The rest are probably idiots who just plain don't know what the hell they're talking about and need to be silenced so that we don't catch the stupid.

Pope Says Technology Causes Confusion Between Reality and Fiction

popsicle67 This bugger defender in a dress wishes to caution (779 comments)

He wishes to caution against losing touch with reality by paying too much attention to make-believe, Hitchens couldn't have made a joke this funny if he had started thinking about it back in the 80's

Ray Kurzweil Responds To PZ Myers

popsicle67 Re:The best resolution... (238 comments)

P.Z. Meyers is not some headline grabbing putz like half the republican party. He would have an interested following regardless of whether he even bothered to talk about Kurzweil or not. Kurzweil has a vested interest in trying to shout down dissenting opinion while Meyers has no dog in the fight save illustrating the scientific fallacies and fantasies foisted upon a credulous public by pompous windbags such as Kurzweil.

Paypal Reverses Payments Made To Indians

popsicle67 Re:Makes me wonder... (509 comments)

I'm sure you've thought of this, but it sounds to me like you should sue Paypal for everything they took from you, plus all the additional damages you've suffered (entire loss of your business), and probably lawyer's fees too. You may even be able to tack some kind of statutory damages on top too.

After all the time and money it takes to bring suit and win you still have to hound the defendant to get paid. The only recourse to not getting paid is to sue.

Google Sets Censorship Precedent In India

popsicle67 You always get it in the BUT (245 comments)

'India does value free speech and political speech. But they are weighing the harm of free speech against violence in their streets.'" In other words India is really concerned about how the outside world, which supplies an untold percentage of it's Gross National Product, perceives the actions of it's government but in truth will do what it wants to do anyway. Whenever you here the word "BUT" you can assume that everything you just heard before "BUT" is bullshit and everything you hear after is what the speaker truly believes

A Critical Look At Open Licensing For Hardware

popsicle67 Re:Open cars are hardly problems, much less new on (123 comments)

There are already real world examples of safety equipment in the aftermarket making it into driven vehicles and failing and they are taken care of by legal precedents. If you install it your self you're responsible, If you have a mechanic do it, that person is responsible so always have a mechanic who is bonded and insured. Anything sold as safety equipment has to pass requirements laid down by the NHSA. If you just install some joe shmuck designed seatbelts in your car yourself and they fail (inspected or not, though I doubt you would be allowed to use them if they are) you are solely responsible.

What the Papers Don't Say About Vaccines

popsicle67 This goes way beyond the media (737 comments)

If it were just the media causing this one could expect a good portion of even the most gullible to hear enough contradiction to finally ferret out the truth. The real problem is people in positions of trust that respout biased media coverage again and again to the small groups of people in their sphere. You get enough of these grass-root level fear-mongers telling the same tale and pretty soon you really don't need the big media. These anti-immunization crusaders spread their stupidity much like religion does, and quite often in the same buildings (hint hint)
