They do it by using the same data connection provided for features such as Remote Start/Diagnostics on your Smartphone and built-in apps like Pandora and Twitter. They can get the data regardless of whether you take it back to the dealer.

GM's CEO Rejects Repaying Feds for Bailout Losses

ragefan Re:real socialism (356 comments)

Please tell me how sole-provider and no-bid contracts handed to a few corporations by our government is completely different from "means of production owned by the state". When government contracts like Lockheed-Martin or BoozAllenHamilton will do anything the government pays them to do, often without transparency, the net effect is the same.

Also, cite examples of any "conservatives will question the logic of solving the problem of too much power concentrating in the hands of a few corporations by further concentrating that power into the hands of a single, enormous entity." The conservatives were the ones that supported the deregulation that allowed banks to consolidate to become "too large to fail" in the first place.

Then clearly the answer is to make your own Pot stamps. The government would then be unable to prove that the ones you made are counterfeit as they could not provide "approved" Pot stamps to compare them against.

Adobe Hacked: Almost 3 Million Accounts Compromised

ragefan Re:See... this is why I torrent cracked versions. (256 comments)

I'm guessing Adobe's cheese-cloth approach to security with PDF and Flash should certainly be huge red flags that the rest of their infrastructure was likely not up to par either.

Ballmer Admits Microsoft Whiffed Big-Time On Smartphones

ragefan Re:What I dont get... (278 comments)

It makes sense because their offering is excellent (most who have used it say "superior", and it's just a matter of time, now. It would be silly for them to walk away at this point.

You know who else thought that... Sony with their BetaMAX product line.

GP said "lower-end" not cheap. Compare the price (and specs) of a iMac to the Mac towers and indeed it is lower-end.

NSA Admits Searching "3 Hops" From Suspects

ragefan Re:Can we discuss the fourth amendment now? (322 comments)

I don't know about where you live, but here in Virginia, USA, most localities already provide GIS sites that provide the tax assessments and the amounts of the last few transactions on every property in the locality. So without hacking anyone's email you can see for yourself the "value" of a property. Of course "really worth" is what the buyer and seller agree on.

ragefan Re:Good for the economy. (451 comments)

Undermining national security. LOL. What does it feel like to see a threat in every shadow? Everyone is out to get you huh? Careful, the Democratic Republic of the Congo might just get the upper hand and de-stabilize the US before invading it!

Seriously, by fundamentally changing what the US stands for over the last 20-30 years, you have undermined your own national security. There isn't anything left worth fighting for.

The truth is, the US. Government is scared because they have been doing things that the people wouldn't approve for decades. They are scared because they know the house they built is coming down around them, and people are getting tired of it. They are scared because they know when we get sick of it and find out all shit they been doing, we are going to come down hard. They are trying to keep us from doing anything.

Come down hard?! Hmm, no. The American people will continue to ignore what the U.S. government does as long as they keep Hollywood pumping out new episodes of "Ouch! My Balls!" If the American people really gave a fuck, then a Congress with 16% approval rating would be wiped clean rather than the majority of incumbents be re-elected.

Everything You Know About Password-Stealing Is Wrong

Clearly, you missed the 60 Minutes report this week about Credit Rating companies and their dispute process (source).

In a nutshell, your dispute is never sent to someone who will approve it, and you basically have to sue them to fix it. Its a multi-year case and you better be well documented.
