Dwarf Fortress Gets Biggest Update In Years

sadness203 Re: Is it still braindeadly single-threaded? (138 comments)

Yeah, well, it's a new game too. Try to have that with 20, 40, and 60 migrants, it will just slow down the more thing you have on the map.

Astronomers Calculate How To Spot Life On an Alien Earth

sadness203 Re:Damn it, must I do everything? (46 comments)

Except it's way easier to search for Water and oxygen than Chlorophyll.

Suppose it take 5 unit of time to confirm if there's oxygen
Then it take 5 unit of time to confirm if there's water vapor.
And then it take 100 unit of time to confirm if there's Chlorophyll.

You can analyze 10-20 candidates instead of just one.

And like somebody else said, Chlorophyll is one candidate, in other conditions, another chemical could be used.

sadness203 Security issues? (131 comments)

With sensor located in the garage and sending data to the car, anyone could temper with the data sent with some appropriate knowledge and tools and giving the car bad directions and instructions. "Yeah, yeah, go ahead, there's no problem, nope, there's no pillar there at all."

What Is Your Favorite Halloween Treat?

sadness203 Re:"Mom" won't let me have candy (267 comments)

I am, and I have no issue with sugar. Like I said earlier, as long as you give yourself a bit more insulin, it's fine (if you are type 1, it's not the same for type 2... but oh well)

What Is Your Favorite Halloween Treat?

sadness203 Re:I'm diabetic, you insensitive clod. (267 comments)

I am, yet I eat sugar without any issue. I must say I'm type 1, so I have to inject insulin anyway.I just have to give myself a bit more if I eat a sugar pie for example.

sadness203 Re:while this may sound ludricous... (547 comments)

Cleaning a loaded gun is asking for trouble, anyway. There's a difference between killing someone by total accident and sending a message.

Scientists Work Towards Naturally Caffeine-Free Coffee

sadness203 Re:Caffeine-free coffee (312 comments)

I'm diabetic type 1 myself, and I do put sugar in my coffee. You just have to take that into account when you give yourself insulin and that's ok. Type 1 should never be afraid of sugar, they just need to adjust there daily insulin needs.

Scientists Study How Little Exercise You Need

sadness203 Re:Interval Training (437 comments)

I remember reading something on slashdot that warming up and doing stretches weren't that good for the body and might do more injuries in the long run. I can't find the article, so I might be wrong.

Central Europe Countries Continue to Oppose ACTA

sadness203 There's still some hope. (111 comments)

Maybe one day, we'll look back and laugh at all these garbage laws that some odd fellow were trying to pass to "protect" some intellectual property. Maybe one day a good law will be passed, one made not for corporation, but for the people and innovation.

I doubt I'll see that. Yet, I can still hope.

Seattle Library Lets Man Watch Porn On Computers Despite Complaints

sadness203 Re:I like their position (584 comments)

Well, yes and no. It would be inappropriate if there was children around, I mean, just looking, not fapping.

But I always find it disturbing that people can look at that in public space... It's more of a social issue in this case, yet, I'll side with the librarian.
