Cancer Cluster Possibly Found Among TSA Workers

skinfitz Re:Statistical pro (487 comments)

While I have no doubt these machines are the bane of our personal freedom, and may even be dangerous its also possible that cancer clusters show up randomly. They do in areas near cellphone towers, unrelated to radiation, simply because clusters happen randomly too.

Nice try, TSA.

Covert BT Phorm Trial Report Leaked

skinfitz Brief Overview (292 comments)

Interesting - whole system runs on RHEL (told you it was evil..) and multiple Squid processes. Adds some latency into browsing (obviously...) Old system dropped javascript tags into URLs but later version did not (resulting in some users having some javascript appearing in their forum posts - like that guy on the motorbike phorum if anyone remembers that incident) Apple.com among the 'download target' sites (page 49) but surprisingly due to Evil, not Microsoft or Google.

skinfitz (564041) writes "Two serious security issues have affected OSX over the last week or so, however curiously, neither have appeared on /. — not even buried in the Apple section.

There is a DMG exploit, and also the first piece of AdWare for OSX.

Now US Cert has issued a formal warning and even the mass media is starting to report on the DMG issue, it's going to be interesting to see how deep the /. OSX security denial runs and for how long it can not report on these issues."
