How Long Until We Commonly Use Flying Cars?

slack_prad Re:Never (606 comments)

I'm sure lot of things were said about cars before they were widely used...

Why do you think flying cars would be allowed to fly as they wish? There would be lanes in the sky, regulations and no-fly zones.

Don't apply your road rules to the sky.

I highly doubt any crazy white guy from southern US can read Arabic. I wonder if he even knows that the book he's holding is actually the Quran.

The facebook page of the Delhi police where pictures are being posted and challans issued.
All this hullabaloo is due to the Common Wealth Games that are fast approaching. Once that's done, this facebook fiasco will die a slow death.

Indian currency gets a symbol

slack_prad slack_prad writes  |  about 4 years ago

slack_prad (942084) writes "The Indian government ran an year long open contest for the symbol and among 3000 shortlisted, 1 was chosen and announced.

The symbol will be included in the “Unicode Standard” for representation and processing of text, written in major scripts of the world. Consequently, the symbol will be encoded in the International standard ISO/IEC 10646. The symbol will also find its place in the Indian Standards. While the the encoding of the rupee symbol in the Indian Standards is estimated to take about six months, its inclusion in the global standards would take about 18 months to two years."

slack_prad writes "An Indian state, Kerala has chalked out a plan for migrating its high school students to free software platforms in three years. This was apparently in response to RMS's recent visit to the place. The education minister for the state said that the Free software guru Richard Stallman's visit last week had nudged the schools to discard the proprietary software altogether. "Stallman has inspired Kerala's transition to free software on the lines of an exciting model of a Spanish province"
Initially, schools were given the option to choose whether teachers were to be trained in Linux systems or Microsoft. The option has now narrowed down to migration."
